Mr. and Mrs. Yuen came back earlier than they expected, they went home, expecting to see their tw..three children in there, but instead, they were greeted by a panicked maid, who ran away as soon as she saw them, that happened for a couple of more time with slightly different reactions, which got them confused and immediately head to the head butler’s office, to know what was going on from him.
Their kids moved after Kin was discharged from the hospital; they weren’t there to know on their own because they had business to attend to, but that didn’t mean they didn’t have someone spying on their kids, to tell them everything about them.
Unfortunately for them, that person didn’t think it was worthy to mention in his report that they moved, because they pretty much-left half of their luggage in the mansion and came back around once in a while.
But for the Yuen couple, it was important, how could they let their kids live on their own with no maids or anything? And without their knowledge? They should be able to know everything about their kids.
With that in mind and displease displayed on their faces, Mrs. Yuen screamed in the middle of the house, for someone to take her to her kids, she then left to their car with her husband behind her, soon after somebody, who knew their address, walked to the car and drove them to where Lucas was attempting to break Leonard’s nose.
Back to the present, Kin was explaining to his parents how lonely the three of them felt in the big house and wanted a change of paste, which was something the three of them have talked about before; ever since they were young, their parents were never home and when they would come back to a house with just strangers in it, they would sometimes want to run away, but Kin was the one who kept them from doing so; if it wasn't for him, Layla and Lucas would have run away long ago to their grandparent's house.
“Why didn’t you tell us?” Mrs. Yuen said with her I am not impressed with that answer look.
“We thought you wouldn’t agree.” That wasn’t the case, they just forgot to tell them, with how absent their parents were, they, especially Lucas and Layla would forget that they had parents sometimes, and it would slip out of their mind that they needed to tell them things.
“Kin, I thought you were better than this.” Mrs. Yuen said in a disappointed voice, which made Kin feel guilty and get reminded of Nik’s memories that were still in his head.
That voice was distinct in his head, it was the voice of his nanny in the orphanage when he wasn’t satisfied with the food, it was the voice his teacher would have when she found him with bruises and not defending himself, and lastly, it was the voice Mrs. Yuen used to mold him into the person she wanted him to be, obedient and attentive.
“I am sorry.” Kin tried not to show the sadness in his voice but a tiny bit of it slipped away, which made it easy for Leonard and Lucas to notice that he got upset with what his mother said.
“Pack your bags, be in the house this evening and we will discuss your punishment.” Mrs. Yuen said and then looked at Lucas from the side and said: “You too and tell Layla to talk to me when she is out of school and come back home immediately .” After she finishes, Mrs. Yuen eyed the place and found it disgusting, it was small and the design was horrible, how could they live here? How did Kin allow her kids to live here? She was severely disappointed.
While Mrs. Yuen was eyeing the place, Lucas remembered that Layla had a shift right after school, so he said: “But she has a shift.”
“I do not care, she should be home, or else I will lock her inside of it.” Mrs. Yuen said in a slightly crazy tone and walked out.
After what happened in the house, their parents ordering to get their stuff and go back home, Kin and Lucas got sad because they enjoyed their time in their little home, it was cozy and they could hear each other a floor apart, it was better than their mansion where they had to call each other to know about the other’s existence, in the black hole that was called their home for a long time, but now, this was their home, their real home and they won’t be leaving it without a fight.
But there was one problem.
“We are in trouble.” Lucas could have at least convinced his parents to let them stay if they were calm and he wasn’t punching someone when they got in, he had his chance and he ruined it.
With that in mind, he called Layla to tell her the bad news, and before Kin could stop him, Layla picked up and dropped the bomb on her.
“Why did you do that?” Kin asked in an angry voice, or rather frustrated voice, he didn’t understand why Lucas couldn’t leave Layla to enjoy the rest of her day without knowing this; it will break her either way, yes, but at least she would be home when they would tell her too.
“She needs to know.” Lucas argued, believing that Layla should know around the same time they did, it was only fair that way.
“Oh, you think so? What gave you that idea? I would have loved to not know this now, it makes me hate everything right now.” Layla argued back, hating the fact that she won’t come back to her warm bed in her cozy room, or go to her job, why did their parents have to come back? They were better off without them.
“Calm down, Layla.” Kin tried to calm Layla down with his words and soothing voice after he took the phone from Lucas, who seemed to be running low on energy battery, which was maybe because of how drunk he was yesterday and the fight he just started.
“I am sorry I am just nervous, what if they tell me to quit my job because of this? They were looking for any reason to get me to quit, and this, they surely will use it somehow.” Layla found her freedom through work, she didn’t work for the money, she only worked to interact with others outside of her bubble.
Ever since she was given another chance, she decided that she was going to live her life better than before, and not waste it on anyone or anything; that was why she got the job; she didn’t know she knew what was her future like or if it was just a fantasy, but as soon as she knew it, she changed.
The realization that her life was short hit her like hot burning water, but she didn’t mind the short life, what bothered her was her life, so the next morning after that dream, vision, or whatever that was, she went and asked her parents if she could get a job and the rest was history.
Let us talk about Layla, or wait let’s finish this chapter then talk about Layla.
“Don’t worry, I won’t let them, don’t let it bother you a lot.” Kin assured Layla that he wouldn’t that happen, he was the one who got her the job and he was the one who was going to help her keep it.
Layla only answered with ok and told him that she had to go back to class; she hang up and he turned to look at Lucas, sleeping in the position, he sighed and put down the phone. He then looked at Leonard, who took off his shirt for whatever reason, which made him roll his eyes and say: “Go put on a shirt before I kick you out.”
“Where did your nice self go?” Leonard asked with a pout, which got Kin even angrier because he was not in the mood to play Leonard’s games so he simply turned his cold self back on.
“Gone with the moon.” He said as he got a hold of Lucas, to put him on the couch.
“I miss him.” Leonard said in a sad voice, he missed the Kin from yesterday, who gave him towels, dried his hair, and even told him a bedtime story, it reminded him of his childhood s when he was still young and his mother would spoil him, but now that he was a millionaire and an adult, nobody does that to him anymore; he would always be alone in that big empty house of his, neither his girlfriends nor friends could fill that hole, and desire to be wanted but Kin did it perfectly, without even trying and only doing it because he felt bad for him.
“And he doesn’t, now go.” After Kin put Lucas on the couch, he walked to Leonard, picked up his shirt and threw it at him, then pushed him out of the house, and that’s when Lucas’s detector went ding and he opened his eyes.
“Don’t go near him.” Lucas was barely able to open his eyes from tiredness, which got Kin even more annoyed than he already was.
“Stop your madness, Lucas. He is my boss and a friend.” Kin responded with half a scream, as he kept pushing Leonard out of the house, and when he finally was about to open the door and let Leonard out.
“What’s going on?” The forgotten Jack suddenly said from the staircase. He was asleep the whole time and didn’t notice the chaos, that was happening on the floor below.
Kin completely forgot he was in their home, even his cousin himself, in the middle of all the chaos that was happening in the last hour or so, he forgot he even had a cousin who he may or may not have traumatized.
The clueless Jack was looking at them innocently and wondered why they were looking at him as if someone had killed his parents and made him an orphan.
