Trauma

2083 Words
It was a cloudy night, a black car could be seen driving through the pitch-black road, with a driver driving slowly and carefully, because of the slippery road, that was caused by the earlier rain, the three siblings were sitting in the back, excited to go back to their home, from a birthday party they attended, everything was calm and they were talking about what they were going to do when they would be back home when the car suddenly stopped because a car blocked the road, their driver tried to drive around it, but another car appeared and all of a sudden, they were surrounded by five cars, from different locations and they couldn’t escape. The oldest of the three looked out of the window and saw men coming out of the car with guns, which made him immediately tell everyone to get down and to stay away from the windows before the bullets could hit them. And as he expected, their car was shot with hundreds of bullets, that left the car with holes and broken windows and doors, and a murdered driver, who wasn’t lucky enough and was shot first. The older brother knew that wasn’t the end when the bullets stopped, so he told his siblings to stay down and peeked through the window, to see what was going on, only to find that the men were approaching their cat with guns in their hands.  “Lucas, get your pocket knife and Layla, pull out your paper spray, and keep them in your hand.” The older brother told them and they immediately did as he said, with shaky hands; while he grabbed a g*n he had under the seat, that he put there long ago for situations like this one.  “I will kick the door open and shoot, once I tell you to run, you run and attack anyone who approaches you and continue running together, don’t look back, you hear me?” “But Ki….” His sister was about to say but he stopped her with a glare.  “I repeat, am I clear?” He said again and they both nodded. Before he attempted to kick the door, he looked at the both of them and kissed their foreheads, he told them that he loved them dearly, that they were the best thing that happened to him.  “We are going to live.” The younger brother said or more like asked with a nervous tone and the older brother nodded with a smile, he didn’t trust his own words but he wanted them to because they needed any encouragement to survive.  He hugged them one last time and gave them his phone that was still working, so they could call the police when they would be away. Their time was running out, the men were at the door, they had to move, the older brother pulled all the strength he had and took a deep breath, he kicked the door with the force he could have and started shooting when he saw the person in front of him. There were three men in front of him, he shoot each of them and ran out of the car, to hold back any others that were near them and when there weren’t any near enough to attach his brother and sister, he shouted at them to run and they did just that; they held each other’s hands and ran for their life. While the older brother was holding back the men trying to get to his siblings, the younger brother stabbed anyone who came near them and the younger sister sprayed their eyes, they ran and ran until they were far away and couldn’t hear anyone near them.  That’s when they stopped and hide behind a couple of trees, that were big enough to hide them, after they made sure they were safe, the younger brother took the phone and called the police, while he held tightly on his sister’s hand and hoped that his older brother would be okay.  He wasn’t, the men overwhelmed him and shot him three times in the stomach and left him to bleed out and die, and went to search for the other two; unfortunately for them, a few minutes after they left to look for the other two, a car passed by and the people in it saw the scene, and decided to call the police and an ambulance.  “How did Lucas and Layla survive though, if it’s five cars and you took down three, there must be at least twenty other than them." Leonard asked when it seemed like Kin finished his story but he didn’t, he was just taking a break and drinking water. “When they heard noises, they started running against and found a swamp, and hide there for a day, the police eventually found them.” “That must have been traumatizing.” Leonard heard of the story, about Yuen’s children almost getting killed but he never expected it to be this horrific, and Lucas and Layla were only 16 and 18, when it happened, he can’t imagine how they felt. “I am sure it was, but they hide it well.” Jin responded with a sigh; they never talked about what happened that day in the house, it’s like a f*******n event, that should never be remembered; he didn’t know if it was because he almost died in it or because Layla and Lucas weren’t ready to face what happened back there. They should at least go to therapy for it, he wasn’t even there, and just thinking about it, made his breath run low and his heat beat fast, so what about Lucas and Layla? He should add going to therapy to the list of things he needed to do; just to make sure, it won’t affect their future, as it did in the story.  Maybe because he lived, the effects won’t be as tragic as they were before, that pushed Layla to depression and social anxiety, and Lucas to become overly protected and only be with Layla, but they still need to address it and overcome it. “And they left you there?” Leonard asked when he remembered the detail about Kim being left on the side of the road.  “Yes, for some reason, they left me there while I was still breathing.” Kin didn’t get that part either, he was also a member of the Yuen family, from the world’s point of view, so why did they leave him there? Were they sure he was going to die? Have they never watch Totally Spies before?   “Then you weren’t their target, they didn’t care if you died or not, what was important to them was to kill Lucas or Layla, I will have to look in for any enemies the both of them have. Do you remember anything specific about the men that attacked?” Leonard was trying to find any clues, that could lead him to the person who should be held accountable for the attempted murder.  “Hmm, they all had the letter R and U somewhere on their body, be it in the face, neck, chest, leg, and the one who was giving orders had a necklace with the craving if something similar to a dog.” Kin described what he remembered or had in his memories from the incident, even though it was hard to do so because it was locked away in Kin’s brain and it made him anxious to think about it.   “That’s going to be useful.” Leonard said, glad that Kin was able to remember that much, this way he would be able to get a ton of information, and a way to start doing so was to make a couple of calls to some of his friends.    He excused himself and got his phone, he dialed a number and started pacing around the room, while talking to different people. An hour later, he was still not done and Kin had to go to the bathroom.   It wasn’t a good idea to chug two liters of water while waiting for someone to finish a call; he had to relieve himself or else his stomach would explode, but he didn’t want to disturb Leonard’s call, so he decided to look for a bathroom by himself.   He found one in a corner, it was the closest and he immediately got in, he locked the door with the key, force of habit because he lived with Lucas and Layla for more than a week and they tried to get in more than ten times.   Five minutes, he was washing his hands with a satisfied smile, that was soon wiped out of his face when he tried to open the door and couldn’t, the key was stuck, he tried to open it again and again, only for the key to break in half, with half of it in his hand and the other in the door. Did he scream because of that out of frustration? Of course, he did, he screamed so loud, Leonard’s non-existent neighbors heard him.    Leonard had a smile on his face, he just finished a phone call, with someone who will be able to get him all the pieces of information he needed; he was about to tell Kin the good news when he noticed he wasn’t there, he then heard a scream and got worried, that it might be Kin, Lucas will kill him if something happened to him.   He rushed to the source of the scream, only to realize that it was near the cursed bathroom, named by him, he walked to it and hoped that Kin wasn’t in there, he knocked on the door and asked if Kin was there.   “Yes! I am stuck.” Kin responded with urgency.    “Okay, go to the cabin near the bathroom and get a metal tool, to help you turn the key with.” Leonard said because that was the way he got out the last time he was stuck.   “But the key broke.” Kin said in a desperate tone, why did he have to break the key? He could have waited for the owner of the house, why did he go to the bathroom at all? He should have peed in the garden, Leonard wouldn’t have minded with Lucas in mind.    “Oh no.” Leonard said and sighed, then pulled out his phone to call someone to help them with the door, he had no other choice. He finished the call and had an even worse expression than he had before. “I called the fire department and they said they are going to send someone with the proper tools to help but there is a big fire in the city so we need to wait at least two hours for someone to get here and the police can’t help either and nobody is available to come here.”    Leonard lived in a secluded area with no houses around, for more than ten meters and nobody was willing to risk their life late at night to get here and help someone get out of a bathroom.    “Two hours? Can’t you just knock down the door?”   “No, I tried before, the material is too strong.” When Leonard got stuck in the cursed bathroom before, it was a month ago, when he was hanging out with some people in his house and his girlfriend, but in the particular time he got in the bathroom, his girlfriend was in his room, she was taking a shower and she couldn’t hear him when he called out for her, and his ‘friends’ who were previously in the living room, got out at that time, so he was stuck on his own and had to figure out a way to get out on his own, and he did but Kin destroyed that way.    “I am stuck here then.” Kin said and gave up on getting out anytime soon, he got down and sat down on the floor, put his back on the bathroom door, and relaxed.    Leonard apologized and Kin told him not to, it was his fault for not asking or consulting Leonard before he went anywhere.    “Should I get you something?” Leonard asked.   “No, just stay with me.” Kin said with closed eyes.
