Chapter 3: The party

"Where's Hannah?" My mum whispered leaning closer to my ear.

"Get her down here, she's taking a lot of time preparing, people are dying to see her"

"Okay mum"

I walked up into Hannah's bedroom. Soya and Olivia were applying face powder and red lipstick perfecting their looks. Hannah at the other side gazing at herself in the mirror.

She's wearing a golden tight long gown with stones on it showing her curves. It has a slit on it making her legs visible. Well made up with a touch of pink blush with a touch of golden glitters making her glow matching her overall dress. She looked so much older.

"Hannah?"

"Mum say you should hurry downstairs, you're keeping the guests waiting"

She glances at me through the mirror with a warmth smile.

"I'm coming, give me some minutes"

Her perfectly shaped lips glowing red like a red apple.

She looks just like a bride waiting for her father to hold her hands and walk her down the aisle to meet her groom.

She looks so gorgeous.

I exit the room leaving them to finish up and hurry downstairs.

Hannah is my one and only sister. I cherish her a lot even though she seems bitter towards me at time. Growing up we use to get along pretty well. We were so close that when I had my first kiss I only told her and my best friend.

Her stubbornness irritates me, it seems like she's in a competition with me. She acts as if everybody hates her and is against her.

Ever since my mum refused her to have a boyfriend, she became a little bitter. She wanted a boyfriend since she was 5, isn't that crazy.?

She gets along a little with my dad. My mum refused her to do certain things teenagers do and she somehow thinks it's me fault, I didn't even do anything.

I get along really well with my mum, she gives me advice about boys. What sets me apart from Hannah is my openness. Hannah is too closed off and my mum doesn't like it, she believes if Hannah gets a boyfriend at a young age she won't confide in her for advice so she fears the worst.

She doesn't even own a smartphone of her own, that's a strategy my mum uses to keep her far from boys.

At least it's worked for as long as I know. She barely even brings friends home, her life is boring.

I envy her zeal sometimes, she's come so long without a boyfriend and close friends. When I was at her age boys were all over me.

I wish she can be more open and confide in me or my mum. She likes aunt Ann more than she likes us, that makes me jealous not gonna lie.

"Attention everyone!!!

I glanced around with a welcoming smile trying to rasps everybody's attention.

"Today Hannah Mae Parker turned 13, it's a special day for her and all of us gathered here."

"I have a special announcement to make and I know this will mean a lot for Hannah, she's a wonderful daughter of mine.

I noticed the guests staring at the staircase, I followed their eyes and it led me to Hannah. She is walking down the stairs with a beautiful smile on her face. She looks so beautiful, she is accompanied by Soya and Olivia, they look so good.

She looks just like a bride on her wedding day walking down the aisle.

It's been ages since I saw Hannah smile so brightly and sincerely.

Everybody cheered as she walked beside me to share her special thank you to the guests.

"Thank you everyone for coming, it really means a lot to me to see you all here especially my aunt Anna celebrating with me"

Anna gives Hannah a smile.

"I have something important for you, it's like a reward from me to you for being a great child"

I said wrapping my hands on her waist.

"I have a brand new iPhone XR here for you as a birthday present"

"Mummy loves you and I'm lifting all the restrictions I've placed on you. Henceforth you're allowed to have sleep overs, girls night either at the house or a friend house, you're allowed to have guy friends, you're allowed to go out at any time but must be home before 8:00 PM, No boyfriend!!! I emphasized till 16."

She had the happiest smile ever on her face.

"I love you mum"

"I love you darling" I give her an embracing hug.

Let's cut the cake!!!

DJ turn up the music!!!

"As usual Anna, we spell your name out and at the echoes of Hannah!!!! You cut the cake okay?"

H.....a.....n......n.......a......h....

Hannah!!!!!!!

Happy birthday!!!!

Music starts playing loudly in the building making the moment more exciting.

Mathew is our DJ. He always turns up for us at every birthday parties all for free.

When he was younger his mum got arrested and went to jail and we took care of him during those period as a family, he doesn't know his father, his mother never introduced his father to him. He's like a family to us.

Thanks to him our guests are enjoying great music.

Music is turned down and playing at the background smoothly, I could hear my mum making a little speech glorify me and talking about a special gift she has for me.

Everyone staring at me as I was walking down with Soya and Olivia like we were a feast but I was scanning through the crowds in hopes to see Liam.

It's a stupid action but I think I have a crush on Liam.

I haven't seen him since we arrived.

I walked towards my mum in amusement and she pulls me closer, her hands wrapped around my waist.

"A phone?"

I thought excitedly.

Wow now my mum is acting like a good mum, I like it.

"No boyfriend still?"

I listened to my mum's "reward speech" I guess.

My mission is to impress Liam but I can't seem to find him anywhere.

I felt like a princess in my dress. It's been so long I dressed so good. With the glances am getting, I knew this dress was a perfect choice.

I want Liam to see me in this dress, or didn't he stay for my party?.

Sigh..
