As Jack approached the front desk in the Fargo Police Department’s mortuary, he was met by the unmistakable odor of formaldehyde. The receptionist looked up from her desk, a knowing expression on her face as she recognized Jack. “Detective Larson, I’ll let Wilmer know you’re here,” she said, picking up the phone. Jack nodded, taking a deep breath and letting it out slowly. This was going to be a tough Wednesday morning, but he was determined to get to the bottom of this case.
