As I look at his face, I see he’s staring right back up at me. There’s a whirlwind of emotions there - lust still smoldering hot in his dark eyes - which were light except when he was turned on, but layered under that is something that knocks the air right out of my chest. Shock. And… was that happiness?
No... I was hallucinating again...
His hand, which had been resting possessively on my hip, comes up to cradle my cheek, his thumb brushing against my skin so tenderly it sends a shiver all the way down my spine.
“Say that again,” he whispers, his voice rough, but also sounding... almost broken.
