"Sie, I swear- where are you off about?" Elaine rolled her eyes hearing Daniel. Finally he showed up.
"What are you glaring about? I was just behind your back but you're nowhere to be seen!"
Elaine only gulped down the rest of her champagne as she sees Derek at the corner of the room, and throws her gaze away.
"Did you see him?"
Daniel turned and when he's sure she's not talking about someone behind them, he asked, "Who do you mean? that guy? weren't you with him?" Elaine only glanced at him then turning away. Daniel followed suit to her side as she mumbled something about poodles, getting trapped, and asinine person. He doesn't understand what she's saying.
Just as they started to walk, Elaine steps faltered when she sees a figure looking at her, and started approaching. "You've got to be kidding me," Elaine mumbled. Daniel whom heard her had stopped too. He turned his head to look at the newcomer, and looked at her confusedly as he doesn't recognize her.
"Oh lookie!" She squealed, giving Elaine a hug which she couldn't refuse due to the amount of people around her. These people wouldn't be looking at her, but neither is she in a mood to make a scene
"Oh, I can't believe I finally meet you again. How are you? It's been ages," the girl sighed, a lot of tones and gestures that Elaine isn't used to through being in an entertainment industry. Even if she could be honest, people in entertainment aren't as dramatic as these people are.
"Um, Trishia.."
"Well, I never thought I'll see you again! Tell me, how's life selling your body for everyone to see?" She smiled, asking so innocently when Daniel has been blinking his eyes, thinking he'd misheard her.
Elaine sighed, closing her eyes while trying to keep herself from retorting back. However, Trishia thought that she gotten on her nerves instead, and grinned more widely. She looked at Daniel and has a meaningful smile on her face. "Why, hello there. Are you supposed to be her date? I bet I could make you reconsider," She winked at Daniel, and he shook his head.
"No. What do you want Trish? Just get straight to the point and stop wasting our time," she breathes out as Trishia laughed.
"My, we finally meet again after three good years, Elaine. No need to be rude," she looks away, as if she's hurt. Then her eyes grows, and a grin appeared on her face. "Ian, honey, look who I found!" she squealed happily.
All three pair of eyes turned to look at Ian, and Ian's face turned sour. He'd drank a lot when she's ignoring him and that punch really had his head spinning that he needs to lie down for a moment, and fallen for a quick nap instead. He's not in the mood to meet Elaine as she might've noticed, and could make fun of him with that.
Ian stood beside Trishia and said nothing, eyes looking the other way instead. Daniel saw his behavior and scoffed. 'how childish,' he thinks.
"Honey, aren't you going to say something to your ex? You know, she once ended up in a river because of you," Trishia smiled sweetly, as Ian glared at her. Elaine's body went stiff, and she's trying hard to keep her expression flat because now, Trishia succeeded getting on her nerves.
She stared at Ian, and trying to gawk at his expression. Initially, she'd thought that he'd told Trishia about what had actually happened years ago. However, she'd never put into account the possibilities that perhaps, Trishia has always been there...
"I don't know what you're talking about," Ian shrugged her over, eyes looking at Daniel up and down as if he's a competition.
"If you're done talking, can I leave now? I have a flight to catch," Elaine said, completely unaffected by them. A look of annoyance started to appear on Trishia's face.
"What? You're famous now so you stood higher than us? You- Hey!" Trishia kept yelling what-so-ever, and Elaine didn't even bother to turn around. She walked out of the hall looking collected, while a faint frown appeared on her face for a minute before she brings herself back together.
"They-"
"Nobody," she stopped him.
"It's fine, Daniel. You stay here. I actually needed to catch my sleep because I'll have a flight soon."
Daniel nodded at that. She's a grown woman who's capable of taking care of her own self. More over, it's not like he get so say anything about her.
"Fine. Call me-" Elaine chuckled, while nodding.
"Yeah, whatever," she waved her hand, walking away. Daniel saw her from the back from a moment, before turning around and returning to the hall. He's still needed to have a talk with a few more people.
Elaine didn't bother to call a taxi through the valet has offered it to her. She walked casually through the dark until she reached her hotel. She took off her heels, and unzipped her dress, letting it fall on the floor. With the faint light from the balcony, she saunter around the room until she reaches the dressing table and dropped her earrings.
She wiped her face with wet wipes like her usual routine, but in the dark, her face has fallen into the flat state. Not the casual face she'd been using the whole time outside, but the face only Ander dan Daniel has seen.
Elaine dropped herself to the bed buried her face to the mattress. But however she forced herself to, sleep wouldn't come to her as her thoughts ended up wandering to memories she'd burred on the back of her mind.
