What are the odds that they could've ran into each other again? And here, out of all places. They even has just seen each other the other day.
Elaine contemplated on pretending not seeing him, but who is she kidding? She'd seen him all bright of day as he'd seen her staring. So she made up her mind and approached him. She stood beside him and lifts a finger to the bartender. She didn't care what he'll bring her.
"You're staring," she stated, giving him a look as he does her. She's can't read what he thinks in mind but she wouldn't be surprised if he throws another accusation to her. However instead of that, his words has surprised her instead.
"I doubt you'd want to get affiliated with that guy," he said instead.
Elaine gave him a wondering look. "Mr. Winston, am I right? I'd say I'm surprised finding you here. After all, It's my area."
A thought has passed his mind that maybe she's pissed at him and wanting to bother him so she'd followed him secretly. Unknowingly, he's the one surprised instead. Her area? And is she pretending that she didn't know who he is?
"Miss Elsie," the senior bartender showed up, passing Elaine her drink. "It's nice seeing you back in town. We've had this new menu for a while now, and we've been wondering when you'll show up to try them out."
Elaine passed him a charming smile. "Well, in that case I'll have this tried, and I'll inform you what I thought later."
He nodded and left them as Elaine turned her head to face Derek, as if asking him if he see now that she's not lying to him.
"Tell me, Why did I get the honor of being stared at by Mr. Winston?"
Elaine smiled at him, taking a sip of her drink, and raised her brows when she didn't see him responding.
Derek found himself feeling weird. There's something in the way she's calling him 'the great Mr. Winston' that almost sounds like a mockery. He felt like he's losing his mind. How could she bother him? There's no way.
"Where's Mr. Ashton?" he asked instead, refusing to admit that he'd been staring at her. She raised a brow at him before giving a brief look to her watch.
"With the time difference.. It's still office hour there. I wouldn't know," she shrugged, then drunk her drink.
Derek didn't know whether he should be amused or annoyed by her answer. "Really? You didn't keep in touch with your-" he stopped, refrained himself and changed the word he's about to use. "-lover?"
Elena almost chocked on her drink. "What, us?" She scoffed, then laughed. "No. Certainly not." She shook her head. She can't even imagine that happening, Daniel's father appeared in mind and she tried to keep herself from grinning.
Suddenly, someone cleared his throat from her other side, and she turned to find a young charming guy smiling at her, probably someone her age as he didn't look that old.
"Hey," he grinned.
"Tried to keep my distance but you know, you pull on me like a siren. It's hard to resist," he told cheekily making her chuckle.
Derek stared at them, and raised a brow. He thinks that Elaine's exaggerating her laugh, and looking for attention. He didn't pay her mind but as they remained near them, he can't help but hear them.
"Can I get you a drink for exchange of your number?"
"Sorry, I've got a drink already," she lifts her half finished drink to him and he opened his mouth, about to convince her. But she'd seen him through and shook her head.
"Not in the mood, buddy. Maybe next time," she forced a smile, and turned away.
Derek turned to look at her, didn't expect she'd turn the guy down. Are she trying to pretend because he's there? He wouldn't even pay her mind if that what she's thinking about. But instead, he found her staring towards somewhere in the distance. At first, he's not sure what she's looking at but when he looked longer at it, he realized that there on the distance had stood a few man, some in their suit, and some are on their shirt, their tattoos apparent, along with the man he'd seen Elaine with previously.
Few of those men had looked somehow familiar to him, and he wonders what made her looking intently their way. The previous smiley face that has been sticking on her face is nowhere to be seen, and she looked like she's a completely different person instead with her current attitude.
Elaine then snapped out of her referees, and turned, realizing that Derek is still there. And she happened to caught him gawking at her expression again.
"I usually told my fans, pictures last longer, " she told him, grinning again as he frowned. And there she's back.
"Why would I be starting at you?" He retorts.
"Because you're a guy," Elaine said as matter of fact. Though her dress is not that revealing, Elaine is well known that her chest is exposed enough and most guys wouldn't shy away from seeing. It's not that she's enjoying it, but she's well aware that upon wearing dresses like this, it's inevitable to be looked at. But then again, how a guy behaves reflects their selves. So far, she had yet met a young man as such in this lifetime.
"Because I'm a guy?" Derek scoffed. These models does knows how to look highly of themselves, now doesn't they?
"What," Elaine suddenly moves closer, and caught where his eyes stopped for a moment, before raising his eyes to meet hers. "You're sure you're not attracted to me?" She gave him a teasing smile.
Her smile took him by surprise. Had he not known she's a model, he would've been attracted to her. She's a fair beauty, which makes sense why she succeed in this world. But the fact that she is made his blood boil in annoyance. He just can't stand models.
Trying to contain himself, he didn't react to her and remained motionless. But with the intensity of his stare, she felt the air change between them.
