Elaine's eyes caught the movement behind Derek and she immediately moves back. Derek was surprised that she backed away, but what took his curiosity is the fact that he could see her trying to put on that smile intact on her face. "Excuse me," she told him, moving away in fast pace as if she's running after someone. He'd seen how her face changed, and she doesn't look like someone who's caught by her boyfriend cheating, or someone who's chasing after a paparazzi. She looked so serious, unlike the previous versions of her that he'd seen, and it confuses him. Other girls are straight away fake, or too real. But never he met one such as her, so mysterious and yet so appealing. "What are you staring at?" Someone asked him all of the sudden, surprising him and he glared at him. "Nobody." "Yeah, whatever. Come up, Derek. We're about to open some new bottles," his cousin told him. He's used of how Derek is though he never understand why his cousin acts as such. He turned his head to the direction Elaine had run off to for a brief moment before following his cousin back to their table. She's not important. Why should he pay her some mind? As Elaine has followed the figure, she was led to the back area of the club. Bunches of men are there, seemed like they're having an important discussion. She looked around, and tries to find a way to stood close enough to listen to them. "The cooperation goes well, the acquisition will took place on the first next month, " a man informed. The guy sitting in the hummed, a cigarette in his mouth. "Well, how much did that gregs invested in?" Elaine perked her ears up upon hearing the name gregs, and when the man named a few million, Elaine scoffed. Trust Ian Gregs to make stupid decision. She wouldn't be surprised if the gregs' three generations wealth would crush down now. "Well, a huge profit that is, " a man said, making Elaine's body went stiff. She remembered his voice, as bright as day. There's no way she could've forgotten about him. He has the same smirk, his body is just as buff, and still the same arrogance, if not more. She didn't prepare herself to see them, and especially not him. She'd come here to meet an old acquaintances for a favor, and had unexpectedly seeing them in the shadows. "I'll double your part if you'd introduce me to your sister," the man chuckled, and he followed along. "It's been years, and you're still interested? I told you she'd run off with her high school boyfriend," he laughed. "Pathetic girl, she thought her first boyfriend is her true love," he continued, and Elaine could hear the mocking there. That was a lie. But of course, he wouldn't have admitted that. And that man, whether he knows any better or not, he's not to be trusted either. As they both laughed, and Elaine felt like her body is sucked by an unknown force where she finds herself getting back to her previous memories. She tried to resist but still, she's back on being her eighteen years old self. The time when her grandfather is ordering her to get engaged to his friend's grandson. Her mother disliked her, and her father is too busy to be home. "Look at you-" that voice scoffed. "A good for nothing. Even your body isn't worth looking." The past Elaine had been very insecure about her body. The friends she thought were her good friends ended up talking down on her when she has her puberty later than any of them. So when she heard those words, it'd hurts her deeper than she'd realized. It was what made her jumps on the chance of getting a photo shoot. She had thought that being accepted means she didn't look that bad, as her whole family has been filled with good looking people. She had stupidly seeks approval from people who doesn't even care about her well being, and that scared her mentally. Elaine snapped herself out of it, and moved as fast as she could. She felt her head spinning, and perhaps all the drink she'd drunk has now taken a toll on her. After all, she hadn't planned to stay this long when she had came and drunk all offered to her. She rushed towards the exit, going to her car and when she's seated in the driver's seat, she sighed. She knows that she's not supposed to be driving by now. But she seemed to have forgotten the fact that her body has alcohol resistance timer. She has a good few hours before the alcohol started to be all over in her system. So she sat there, trying to calm herself down before starting the car. after a good few minutes, she tuned the gear, and pressed on the gas. But suddenly, she pressed on the breaks making her body jump, and bumped her head to the steering wheel. She's considering on grabbing a taxi instead before someone knocked on her window. "Are you trying to kill yourself or someone else? " Derek glared at her, as she pushed her door open. She was about to ignore him when he suddenly pushed her, forcing her to jump to the passenger seat and he sat on the driver seat. He might disliked her as a model, but he can't just stand still seeing a drunk girl trying to drive. "Where do you live?" he asked, sighing. She too sighed, closing her eyes and pressing her forehead, while muttering her address to him. He drove there with the car GPS, which funnily seemed like it had never been used. Through her eyes are closed, the whole ride Elaine's deep in thought. The things that, she remembered at the club are now spinning around in mind. She has buried those memories on the deepest part of her mind. Derek turned to look at her when they reached. Her eyes are closed and she looked like she's exhausted. The girl who's teasing him earlier is nowhere to be seen. He sighed again, and finally decided to at least took her to her doorstep. But when he's about to leave, she gripped on his arms and leaned on his body. "Stay.. " 200121
