What's about her? 2

1201 Words
Two figures tangled in the dark, swaying to the music only the both of them could hear. She found her head nestled on his chest as their arms are wrapped around each other. "It would all be fine," he murmured into her head. "I'm here, I promise," he smiled to her when she looked up. She smiled back to him, grabbing his face and pressed a tender kiss on his cheeks. "I know," she whispered back to the crook of his neck, embracing his warmth. Elaine forced her eyes to open. She rubbed her face and sighed. Since her rebirth, she'd constantly fall into this recollection of her past life. The person she was on her past life and this life had been utterly different. Upon her rebirth into this life, those memories had helped her on becoming a stronger person. It'd helped her on getting back on her feet, and how to find opportunities. However, never had they been so absurd. In the state she's at, the last thing she needed is to get flashbacks of a lover in her past life. She needed to find the person who would help her get her revenge. Romance is the last thing she has in mind. Elaine gotten more irritated as her exhaustment seemed to sink in. The gift of the recollection costed her energy, and this particular recollection is more tiresome than all she'd been through. What's worse, it made this hallow feeling inside her heart felt more obvious. Her gift gives her insight, but it's no magic to suddenly cure all of her pains, and changed her to a whole 360. Elaine buried her face back to the pillow, hoping to catch sleep. But no matter how tired she is, this feeling kept running inside her heart, and her mind goes along with it, making her restless. So, she jumped off her bed, get her mask and a parachute jacket, and ran out. She didn't care if even  the sun is still sleeping, she need to get herself exhausted just so she could get some sleep. And an hour after she's done, that's exactly what had happened. After returning to the hotel, Derek lied in bed. He was rethinking of what had happened. He looked at her when she excused herself and she had looked like she's trying to find someone. But who? And why did she looked so down? Derek scoffed at himself. Since when did he cared that much to strangers? He had been walking out of the club and from his car, he'd seen a car stopping midway like the driver had changed her mind. Even the condition of her car looked new. He really wished to make mean comments about her like he did before, but if she's a kept woman, she wouldn't have behaved in the way she does. New rich always flaunt their expensive items. But besides her car, everything about her had appeared ordinary. He brushed off the thoughts. Why is he even thinking about her? He soon fell into slumber. The next day, he went to meet his business partner. He's about to start a new project located in this city, and thus, he's going to meet the mayor. After checking out things on the subsidiary, he heads out for his lunch meeting. Located in the vast golf area, the autumn breeze blows to their face as they occupied the garden table. "From the prospect of this project, I honestly believes it'll bring this city good as well. We might be a small city, but business has been growing vast, and the living requirements has escalated too. I could help with the permits, however for the land acquisition I'm not sure if it's owned by internal, or by third parties." Derek smiled and nodded, shaking his hands, and bid him farewell as the mayor couldn't leave his post for long. Derek stayed to accompany his business partner who had introduced him to the the mayor. They both headed to the golf area, and discussed a few things casually while playing golf.  "So, you had no plans on joining your family on the political side? Since there's little chance for you to join the military ranks by now," he asked Derek as he shrugged. "No. My business are running very well, and my family doesn't lack a heir," he told respectfully. "The first man in the family to move to the business side," he laughed. "I'd love to have you as my son in law, just so you know," he mentioned casually to Derek as he smiled politely. And as if on cue, a little girl comes running down from the gold cart their way, yelling her presence to her daddy. "Hi there Derek," She smiled adorably, blinking her eyes at him which he found repulsing. "Miss Anastasia," he nodded respectfully and she pouted in annoyance as her father laughed. "Come on Derek, your father and I has been friends since high school. We're not the Petersen for you. I'm just Dean, and she's just Asia." "Now, do tell. What do you look for in a girl? I might know someone," He grinned, ignoring his daughter's annoyed glare at him. She later stared at him in all seriousness, eager to hear his answer as he tried to keep his face flat. "Someone my age, most likely," he answered briefly to the point, while Asia pouted again. She'd just graduated from university and just entered her early twenties. Even though the age gap isn't that big, he wouldn't even stand someone as childish as she is. "Agree. You'd have to find someone who's able to match your temper and not be intimidated. And someone who's most likely understand your busy schedule, no?" Rob added, as Asia squealed a high pitch complain to her father as if she stood a chance. The only reason she liked him is because he came from a prominent family, and making big digits. "Oh, daddy, have you tell Derek I'm now officially joining showbiz? I was-" She started talking about how wonderful she is, or which is the point of her lengthy sentence, and Derek couldn't help but be reminded of Elaine again. For someone in the entertainment model, she's quiet and graceful. Even on the encounter with those people at the banquet, she didn't say much unless she's required too. Even on the banter, she's mostly restricted. She flickered her eyes, and flirted with him, but in neither scenario did she appear more than playing with him. He doesn't sense her interest in him like other girls had treated him. How did a daughter from a prominent family acts so differently from her? Derek hits the ball with more force without realizing as he's annoyed to the fact that he had think of her again. What is it about this girl that she seemed to be stuck in his head when he didn't even want it to happen? But at least that hit had made Asia quiet down. As she didn't know what's going on inside his head, it had appeared that he might be annoyed with her, and she didn't force a conversation with him anymore. 210121
