Chapter 13 Sunday morning sunlight poured down from a clear eastern sky. As I jogged to the west, toward campus, my long evasive shadow gave me silent company. Birds twittered from lofty treetops, and dew-covered flowerbeds and lawns perfumed the air with a bracing scent.
