Chapter 17: The Cavalry Arrives
Vincent slowly swam to consciousness. He was no longer dangling by his wrists, but was lying on the cool cement floor of the gas station. He tried to focus. The blur in front of his eyes turned out to be a pair of shoes only inches from his head. He looked up to find his partner staring at him with a dopey smile on his face.
“Vikushka, you are awake.”
Vincent struggled to sit up. His muscles were stiff from hanging off that lift. His eye throbbed. “How long have we been out?”
