Adrain was seething with anger, his eyes flashing with betrayal and disbelief.
"Why, Ava?" Adrain's voice trembled with frustration. "How could you betray us like this?"
I sighed, the weight of my actions pressing down on me. I had a lot to explain, and I knew Adrain deserved answers.
"Adrain," I began, my voice shaky, "I was under the influence of Selena, the puppet master. She had some sort of control over me. I didn't want to do any of this."
His disbelief hung in the air like a storm cloud. "Under Selena's control? You expect me to believe that?"
