The sound of constant beeps filled the room as Emmeline slowly awoke. The room was pure white and smelled of chemicals. The beeps began rapidly increasing as Emmeline sat herself up and looked around the foreign room. She stood up from the bed, ripping all cords and wires away from her.
A female doctor came sprinting into the room at the sound of the heart monitor flatlining. “Oh my goodness Miss, you nearly gave me a heart attack. Please lie back down, you are still healing.”
“Where am I?”
“Gamma Ethan brought you back to the Royal Pack with his mate. You fainted because of a head injury you sustained when the previous Alpha threw you against a wall.” Emmeline nodded and slowly sat back down on the bed. The doctor quickly began attaching her to all the various machines.
“Where is Addison?” Emmeline’s voice was croaky and sore but she pushed through.
“The Gamma female is receiving treatment in the room right next to yours.”
“Is she okay?!”
“She’s fine sweetie, they are just checking her vitals and giving her some much needed rest,” the doctor said as she laid a blanket over Emmeline. “She mentioned your name was Emmeline, is that correct?” Emmeline nodded. The doctor sighed, “Make sure you don’t do that again. We need to keep you here for a while to check all your vitals and broken bones before you can leave.”
The doctor quietly left the room, leaving Emmeline smothered by her own thoughts and fears. Suddenly, before Emmeline drowned in her own worries, Addison burst through the door and ran to her side. She pulled Emmeline into a hug, carefully not to hurt her. “Thank god you’re okay,” Addison mumbled, tears falling from her beautiful baby blue eyes.
“Are you hurt? Did they hurt you?” Emmeline croaks. Addison chuckles as she wiped away her tears.
“It’s the complete opposite Em, you should see the house my mate and I are going to live in! It’s humongous and I don’t have to clean anything either! They have maids that are actually treated nicely here!”
Emmeline slowly nodded her head, “I told you your mate would accept you.”
“Oh my god Emmeline, my mate is best friends with the King! Like the King of Werewolves! He’s his Gamma which means I am the Gamma Female!”
Emmeline sat herself up, facing Addison who was sitting at the end of the bed, “That’s incredible Addie. So what else happened while I was asleep?”
“Oh, we only arrived here about two hours ago. We dropped you off at the hospital and then Ethan drove me to the house so I could drop our things off,” Addison exclaimed.
There was a gentle knock at the door that attracted both the girls attention. “Addison, the doctor needs to finish checking your vitals,” Ethan calmly stated.
Addison rolled her eyes, “I am fine Ethan. Everyone should be checking on Emmeline.”
“I am fine Addie.”
“Bullshit! You were thrown against a wall and kicked in the stomach, not to mention all the other beatings you’ve taken for me!”
“Addison. I am fine, I just have a couple of bruises,” Emmeline stated, pushing her off the bed and toward her mate.
Addison folded her arms, “Fine, but by the time I am back you’d better have eaten food or else I will scream this hospital to the ground.” Ethan’s eyes widen as he quickly grabs the nearest doctor, ordering them to get Emmeline food.
Emmeline laughed, “I am sure you would Addie. Now go get your vitals checked or I will scream the hospital down.”
Addison and Ethan leave as a massive plate of all kinds of food was wheeled in. Emmeline moaned quietly as the fresh fruit exploded in her mouth. The fruit was much fresher and nicer than anything she had ever experienced before. The doctor giggled before leaving the room.
The sun was setting now. Emmeline watched as the orange and red fill the sky. She admired how the colours danced together and played around with the clouds. It had been so long since she’d seen such a simple and beautiful thing. Before she knew it, the sun was completely gone and the darkness had come out to play. Emmeline slowly stood from her bed, taking out the wires again. She walked over to her bathroom, gasping as she saw her tired and dirty reflection. Quickly, she ran her hands through her long brown hair that reached mid-way down her back before she splashed freezing cold water over her face. She shrieked as the water came in contact with her pale skin, but she pushed through.
Her once vibrant and full emerald green eyes were dull and full of painful memories. Her once rosy red cheeks were pale and her once pearly white teeth were yellow. She sighed and rummaged through the draws, finally finding a small tube of toothpaste.
After freshening up she walked back into her hospital room, only to be hit with an intoxicating smell of pine, Earth and leather. “Mate!” Her wolf, Accalia screamed.
The man was incredibly tall, much taller than Emmeline’s small five foot four frame. He was muscular with a trimmed waist, broad shoulders, chiseled jawline and high cheekbones. His raven black hair was perfect mess that laid against his tanned skin. His perfect pink lips were parted slightly as he gawked at Emmeline. Emmeline examined his face more. His nose was perfectly straight and he had a little bit of stubble that added to his sexiness. He was wearing a white button-up top - that hugged his muscles and indicated at a possible six pack hidden underneath - paired with some plain, black dress pants.
“Mine,” he growled as his electric blue eyes flashed black momentarily. Most people would’ve been terrified of the growl but Emmeline didn’t seem fazed.
“Yours,” she mumbled, barely audible. Within seconds he had trapped Emmeline between him and the wall. The sound of sparks crackled in the air around them as they stood as physically close as possible, too afraid to touch one another.
Finally, the man lifted his right arm off the wall and travelled a finger down Emmeline’s soft cheek. Sparks exploded as their bare skin touched. Subconsciously, Emmeline leaned into his touch as she closed her eyes. He used his index finger and thumb to lift Emmeline’s chin so she looked at him, “What’s your name, mia bella?”
A shiver ran down Emmeline’s spine as his husky voice came out, mixed with an Italian accent. “Emmeline,” she mumbled, staring into his gorgeous blue eyes.
“Emmeline,” he repeated, testing out how it sounded. He smirked. He liked it. “Well, Emmeline, I am Xavier,” he said, holding Emmeline’s name for a moment too long.
“Xavier,” she mimicked, smiling. A purr escaped Xavier’s mouth as his wolf relished in his mates beauty. Emmeline giggled, “You sound like a cat.” Xavier smiled as he watched his mate giggle.
“Emmeline! I have to show-” Addison ran into the room, coming to a sudden halt. Ethan quickly followed after her. His and Addison’s jaws dropped as their eyes widened.
“Are you guys going to talk or stand there like fish,” Xavier growled.
“Sorry! I was-” Addison begun.
Ethan quickly cut her off, “We will go, we have some business to discuss with Luke anyway!” Ethan quickly grabbed Addison arm, dragging her gently out of the room and closing the door.
“Have you met Addison?” Emmeline asked.
Xavier chuckled as he took a step away from Emmeline, untrapping her, “I have to meet my Gamma’s mate.” Emmeline stood there for a while before her jaw dropped open.
“Are you the King?!” Xavier nodded and he ran his hand through his silky black hair that Emmeline had a strong urge to run her hands through.
“I am, mia bella.”
Xavier sat down on the bed, watching as Emmeline attempted to absorb the information. She leaned her back against the wall - that he had just trapped her against - and slowly nodded her head. “But- But I am your mate so does that make me-” Her eyes widen and her jaw drops to the floor. “That makes me Queen!”
