Faye Morning descends on Crimson Peak. It’s a bleary but warm winter day. Water drips down the windows as the snow and ice melts off the roof of the castle. Dark clouds promise more snow if the weather chills again, and the air smells like ozone as I slip out of bed, blinking blearily into the gray light. Michael’s side of the bed is empty but unmade. I wonder if he came back to sleep and slipped out again before I noticed. I’m wearing a thin, silken robe but fetch a loose fitting gown from the closet, draping it over my body. I smooth the pale pink fabric over the slight swell of my stomach, smiling when I notice the bump I’d been sure was there on my wedding day is real. I’m starting to show. I’m sure it’s come quicker since I’m carrying twins. I wonder if Michael plans on telling
