Emory and I both agree to have Mikey stay at Cerise Port while King Myenas is in Crimson Peak. We feel better knowing Mikey is far away and safe from any nasty surprises the old king might bring with him. Call it paranoia, but we’d rather be safe than sorry. My mother has met the vampire king a few times, back when my father was the king, and she does not care for him at all.
Nevertheless, Dowager Queen Agatha helps with setting up the party. She’s better at these things than me, and I have always left the planning of balls and soirees in her experienced and capable hands. Emory doesn’t enjoy party planning either, so she’s glad to let my mother take the lead. The bird exhibition was Agatha’s idea as she knows about King Myenas’s obsession with birds.
