26、When Queens Unite

1098 Words

My Queens moved like a pack of wolves closing in on wounded prey. Elena's face went white as thirty women surrounded her, their eyes cold with determination. These were women who had been beaten, threatened, and silenced for years. "You made a mistake, Elena," I called out as the police sirens grew louder. "You forgot that desperate people have nothing left to lose." Elena tried to raise her gun, but Lucia was faster. She grabbed Elena's wrist, twisting until the weapon fell to the wet pavement. Camille picked it up and stepped back, pointing it at the woman who had orchestrated so much pain. "Let me go!" Elena screamed, struggling against the circle of women. "You cannot touch me! My father owns half the police force!" "Your father," Vincenzo said coldly, "just lost half his power."
