The atmosphere in the infirmary was heavy.
Gina, stunned by Daniel's outburst, finally realized what she had said. Her face paled instantly. "I'm sorry," she rushed to apologize. "I was wrong. I truly regret it. I shouldn't have been so impulsive!"
Daniel looked at her sternly, his eyes full of warning. "I covered for you with the Warden this time, but there can't be a next time. Otherwise, you know the consequences."
Gina nodded repeatedly, a hint of fear and flattery in her voice. "I know I was wrong! I won't disappoint you again!"
Daniel frowned, not entirely convinced. He knew she wasn't one to give up easily. Although this incident had passed for now, he worried she might do something else irrational.
