Ronald's POV - Surprising connections
As I woke up, I felt a slight headache from the night before. Despite the discomfort, a smile crept across my face as I turned over, wanting to wrap my arm around the beauty I had met last night—only to realise that the space next to me was empty, causing my eyes to widen in surprise.
After looking around, I sadly realised that the she-wolf from last night had left quietly. I lay back with a sigh, staring at the ceiling for a while. It wasn’t that I had imagined a relationship with her, but it would have been nice to wake up next to her and perhaps repeat what happened the night before.
I remembered every moment of our lovemaking and had to admit that I couldn’t recall anyone with whom the experience had been so good. Even though I was a little drunk, I still vividly remembered her pretty figure. She was perfect in every way. I admired her appearance and appreciated that she wasn’t like the typical silly she-wolves who thought they could win me over easily with s*x, trying to gain power by being my partner. However, when I tried to remember her name, I only knew that it started with an "E."
I got out of bed, ordered breakfast, and headed to the bathroom to take a shower. Just as I finished, the hotel staff brought my breakfast to my room, so I moved to the suite's dining room and started eating.
I had barely taken my first bite when my phone vibrated again. I held it in my hand and saw it was a message from Alex. He sent details about his sister, but I ignored them for a moment, wanting to finish my meal first. Once I was done, I wiped my mouth, held my phone, and sat down on the couch.
When I opened the message and saw the picture of his sister, I froze for a moment. She looked a little younger in the picture, but her beautiful eyes made her identity undeniable. Erin, Alex's sister, whom I needed to assist in her revenge, was none other than the gorgeous she-wolf I had shared my hotel bed with last night.
I was a bit confused that she ended up with me after that bastard had betrayed her, but I didn’t mind at all. On the contrary, I was eager to find out more about her.
I called my guys and asked them to gather all the information on the two she-wolves I named, then hung up, excited.
I knew it would take time to discover everything about them, and my impatience made me act. After putting on a swimsuit, I headed down to the hotel’s wellness area to calm myself by swimming. It felt like an eternity before my Beta and two of my guys finally arrived at the pool.
"Mr Fred, we have all the information you requested," my Beta said.
I got out of the pool, dried off sufficiently, and took the green folder from him.
"Thank you."
My Beta nodded. "Is there anything else we can do for you?"
"No, just hang around. I might need you later."
He nodded, and they left. I quickly returned to my hotel room and plopped down on the couch, excitement coursing through me. However, when I opened the folder to check Erin’s information, I couldn’t help but smile. There wasn't anything exciting; I already knew from her brother that she had left for her studies and lived with the humans for a while, where she had met my half-brother, Kevin.
Erin completed her studies with excellent grades and then joined the Red River Pack. She was a well-respected surgeon at the pack's hospital and had never broken any of the pack's rules. She lived with Kevin and focused solely on her work.
I sighed at the thought of how much I could make her life fun, unlike that jerk.
Zoe, my half-brother's mate, was attractive with her blonde hair and blue eyes, but there was nothing particularly special about her. She studied to become a doctor but didn’t achieve outstanding grades, despite also working in the hospital. "Interesting," I said aloud.
Zoe was a gamma, born into an ordinary Gamma family, so she wasn’t suitable for the Luna's role. That explained to me why Kevin didn’t want to reveal that she was his fated mate.
But what surprised me the most was that the folder also contained a picture of a little boy. He was about four years old and pictured with my stepmother. I chuckled bitterly as I read the information about him. He was Kevin and Zoe’s illegitimate child. Even though the little pup looked more like his mother, Kevin couldn't deny that he was the father. To me, it was one of the most disgusting things a father could do to his family. The existence of the little pup, of course, was kept hidden, and I shook my head in disbelief when I saw that the pup was being raised by Kevin's mother, my stepmother.
"Just like his pathetic father!" I exclaimed, recalling my parents' story. This realisation brought back a familiar pain, and I felt like I had seen and read enough of their kind.
I sighed as I put the folder down and held Erin’s information in my hand again. After staring at her picture for a while, I noticed something I had missed before: there was an appointment for Erin and Kevin at a boutique for a formal gown fitting. My pack owned that boutique, and a smile spread across my face when an idea appeared in my mind.
I had never been to that boutique before, so I quickly got dressed and called my Beta to arrange a car. I wanted to go there and check out the building to plan where to meet Erin in secret.
