Chapter 19

Erin's POV - A surprise that costs a date I didn’t understand why seeing Kevin having s*x with Zoe again shocked me so much. Perhaps I still had deep feelings for him. Even though I felt I should pull back the curtain and confront them face-to-face, I tried to think it through. I wanted to force myself to move on, rather than reveal my cards too early with only one person present. I also felt extremely embarrassed that Ronald had witnessed the scene. For a moment, I was angry with him, too. Allowing me to see something like that, without him fully understanding our relationship, felt malicious. It wasn’t just because watching Kevin with someone else was painful; it also made me feel like a weak she-wolf who endured her boyfriend's affairs instead of confronting him directly, fighting with his mistress, and dumping him immediately. I couldn’t help but leave, and I hated hearing Ronald follow me. I just wanted to be alone to gather my thoughts. I hoped that once they finished in the other room, I could smile next to Kevin and check how good our outfits looked together. But Ronald had something to say that changed everything. Knowing he was there to help was one thing. It shocked me because he didn’t seem like a reliable person. However, I had to consider that he might be trustworthy. My brother was a good friend of his and trusted him enough to ask for his help. Therefore, I had no reason to doubt his reliability. Perhaps he wasn’t the carefree person he appeared to be. “What present are you preparing?” I asked him, but he shook his head. “You don’t need to know that yet,” he replied, which annoyed me. “How can you help me if I don’t know your plan?” I asked in frustration. He smiled again, but his expression wasn’t as cheerful as it had been a few minutes earlier. “I’ve investigated many things,” he began, crossing his arms over his chest. “And I have good reason to help you get revenge on your cheating boyfriend. I think we have a lot in common, Erin, but that’s all I can say for now. Your brother contacted me and asked for my help, and I promised I would. And before you blame me, I had no idea you were Alex's sister when we met in the bar. I found out the next day.” He leaned closer, which I didn’t like at all. The smell of his intoxicating cologne gave me an unwanted, familiar arousal that I did my best to hide. “Recording them having s*x was a good idea,” he said. “I’m sure the pack would like to see how honest and reliable their future Alpha is when you show that to everyone. It was smart.” I looked at him, suddenly confused. “If you know I’m aware of his affair, then why did you take me to see them together again?” I asked, clearly angry. “I just wanted to see something besides putting fuel on the fire,” he replied, a slight smile on his face as he glanced at me. “Why aren’t you answering?” I pressed. He leaned closer again. “I just returned the favour since you weren’t so responsive a few minutes ago.” “What do you want to know?” I sighed. “If I prepare that present for you, will I get a date?” he asked. I sighed and rolled my eyes. Even though I liked him, I was heartbroken over Kevin's betrayal. Once I was done with my revenge and single again, the last thing I wanted was to be involved in another relationship. "Okay, I don't mind. But only one date," I said, as if I were giving in. I had promised myself that I wouldn't drink so much that I would lose control and end up under him again. He flashed a broad smile and leaned closer to my ear, making me shiver as his warm breath brushed against my skin. "I am looking forward to that date, Erin," he whispered, causing me to close my eyes. But when I realised he wasn't moving away, I took a step back before I could lose my composure. He was teasing me, and I knew it wasn’t fair. "Do you think I'm going to bite you?" he chuckled. "No, but I would appreciate it if you would keep your distance," I replied. "I know; we are just waiting for your mate to finish having s*x so we can continue the fitting together happily," he said. I shot him a glance that clearly expressed my lack of enthusiasm for his jokes, but he didn’t seem to care. "Do you want a coffee, maybe?" he asked, and I sighed. "No, thank you. The only thing I want is to go home and lie down, alone." I emphasised the word "alone," which made him smile, but this time his smile carried a hint of bitterness. "Okay, I’m guessing they'll be finished soon anyway. Now that my beloved brother's anger has been dealt with, I wouldn’t want him to argue with me again." He pulled a card from his pocket and handed it to me. His name and phone number were printed on it. "You know where to find me. Feel free to visit me anytime," he grinned before turning around and leaving the room. I tucked the card into my bag and sat down, resting my elbow on the table. My heart skipped a beat when the door opened, but it was only Elaine. Elaine checked the gown on me and said, "It's nearly perfect." She took some measurements, noting that the dress was a little tight around my waist. "Don't worry, Erin. We will fix it for you before the ceremony." I nodded, forcing a smile. Just as she put her notes away, the door opened again, and I felt a surge of nerves at the sight of Kevin and Zoe's smiling faces. Zoe followed him closely, like his shadow, and only a blind person could miss the adoration in her eyes. However, she quickly glanced at me, likely realising she had been staring at Kevin for longer than she should have, and turned to face me. "Erin, look at the wonderful outfit I found for Kevin! Do you still doubt my fashion sense?"
