Ronald's POV - Good to see you, brother
I checked the time on my watch and realised it was nearly time for Erin and that bastard to arrive. I had come much earlier to plan their welcome. I was in a dilemma, unsure whether to reveal that I stayed in the pack, but I finally decided to give Kevin a hard time.
I held Erin's picture in my hand and couldn’t stop staring at it. I couldn’t understand why a she-wolf like her would end up with Kevin. She was stunning, and her strength as an Alpha was undeniable. From the information I gathered, I learned that she wasn't just a surgeon; she was an exceptionally skilled and hardworking doctor who had saved countless lives in the pack. What could Kevin possibly offer her that kept her by his side?
I understood Kevin's strategy; he couldn’t find a better candidate for Luna than her, especially if he didn't want to face challenges from his pack soon after becoming Alpha.
Lost in thought, a noise from outside snapped me back to reality. A car had arrived.
I stood up and walked to the window, which overlooked the boutique's small private car park. It took them only seconds to exit the car. I chuckled bitterly when I realised that Kevin had brought his mistress with him. I was stunned and puzzled as to why Erin allowed that. If that wasn’t enough, Kevin seated Zoe in the front, making them appear as a couple while Erin was left, apparently feeling like the unwanted third wheel.
Shaking my head, I sat back down, put the folder back in the drawer, and locked it. I waited patiently, but it wasn’t long before my assistant knocked on the door.
“Come in,” I called, and she peeked into the room.
“Mr Fred? Miss Laurie and Mr Jackson have arrived.”
“Thank you. I’m coming,” I replied. She nodded and left the office. I took a deep breath and exhaled slowly before standing up.
As I strolled down the hallway, I stopped by a mirror to check my appearance. I was wearing an elegant grey suit with a burgundy tie. After adjusting it, I gave myself one last look, satisfied, before heading toward the room where they were seated.
Kevin and Zoe were engrossed in conversation and didn’t notice me at first. Only Erin made eye contact, and her expression was one of shock. Her perfect features reminded me of the night we had shared, when she was completely naked under me, enjoying our connection.
Usually, I would think of her as just another she-wolf who enjoyed one-night stands. Still, after learning about her relationship with Kevin, I could understand why she acted that way.
I took a step into the room, but Kevin and Zoe were so caught up in their chat that they remained oblivious to my presence. However, I couldn't focus on them; my gaze was locked on Erin, and the way she looked back at me made me smile. She didn’t return it, which I completely understood.
When I approached them, Kevin and his mistress still hadn’t realised I was there, so I coughed quietly to make my presence known. Finally, they noticed me. Zoe quickly stood up, anticipating an introduction, while Kevin's expression mirrored Erin's shock from moments before. He seemed frozen, only standing up when Erin rose to her feet.
“What are you doing here?” Kevin finally asked, which made my smile widen.
“Oh, I'm glad to see you too! To answer your question, since my family owns this boutique, it belongs to me as well. There were a few matters that needed attention, and I was the only one available to handle them. So here I am.”
“Is there not someone else who could deal with us?” Kevin replied, prompting frowns from both women.
"I’m afraid I’m the only one who can help you. But what’s your problem with that? I was genuinely happy when I found out you were coming. I’m thrilled to help you find the right outfit for your ceremony," I said, noticing Kevin's fuming expression, which only made the situation more entertaining for me.
"How do you know about the ceremony?" Kevin asked, and I pretended to be surprised.
"How do I know about it? Seriously? The entire pack talks about it, Kevin." I glanced at Erin for a second. "A few days ago, I was in a bar, and guess what? A werewolf group chatted about you. They can’t wait to see you take the lead. How is it that you’re the future Alpha, and you don’t know that? Maybe you should go out a little more often to interact with the werewolves you need to lead."
"Don’t tell me what I’m supposed to do, Ronald!" Kevin commanded, just like he used to when we were kids. The only difference was that back then, he always had his mother or our father to jump in and defend him. This time, however, his parents were nowhere to be found.
"Calm down, Kevin. I’m not here to argue with you. I’m here to help. Come on!" I patted his shoulder. "I’m genuinely happy to see you. Just trust me a little, okay?" But that only deepened Kevin’s gloomy expression.
"Actually, I can give you some advice. I remember all the times you were clumsy during celebrations," I chuckled. "I have some time, and I can stay here to attend the ceremony with you. Just like the old days, I'm happy to assist you with anything you need. I understand this is a big deal for you, Kev, and it can be overwhelming to handle such an event when you're feeling so confused."
I could see that Kevin was about to explode, and nothing amused me more.
Just as he was about to respond, Zoe interrupted him.
"Wait! Do you two know each other?" she asked, making us both look at her. I glanced at Erin and noticed she had a similar stunned expression.
I smiled wider. "Of course, we know each other. Haven’t you told her?" I turned back to Kevin with a frown. "Kevin is my little brother."
