Chapter 5: A Friend's Perspective

Lena barely had time to gather her thoughts before the sound of Mia’s familiar knock echoed through the house. It was fast and deliberate, with no room for delay. Lena took a deep breath, running her fingers through her messy hair before heading downstairs. When she opened the door, Mia stood on the porch, bundled in a puffy winter coat and scarf. Her auburn curls peeked out from beneath her hat, and her brown eyes were full of curiosity and concern. “You weren’t kidding when you said complicated,” Mia said, brushing past Lena into the house. She shrugged off her coat, tossing it onto the arm of the couch before turning to face her. “What’s going on? And don’t even think about lying.” Lena closed the door, leaning against it for support. “I don’t even know where to start.” “How about the part where the Alpha triplets kissed you under the mistletoe in front of the entire pack?” Mia raised an eyebrow, her voice equal parts disbelief and excitement. “Seriously, Lena, do you have any idea how insane that is?” Lena sighed, sinking onto the couch. “It’s more than that, Mia.” Mia plopped down beside her, pulling her legs up to sit cross-legged. “More than public humiliation? Or more than being the most talked-about person in school?” “They said I’m their mate,” Lena blurted, her voice trembling. Mia froze, her eyes widening. “Wait. What? All three of them?” Lena nodded, her hands twisting nervously in her lap. “They said it’s rare but not impossible. Something about Alpha-borns and the mate bond being stronger for them.” Mia stared at her, mouth agape.
