Chapter 3 All Good Things Come to an End

1000 Words
I had known since I was 8 that I was adopted. My parents had told me when one of the kids in my class had told me I wasn't the real kid of the Alpha and Luna, I was just a charity case. I had come home crying huge crocodile tears. My mother had been so mad at all the kids that had been teasing me and that had been the day that my parents told me my story. The fact that they chose me, over me being born to them made me feel so special. I was wanted. My life had been so blessed until that fateful day. Maggie and I had just celebrated our 10th birthday. I asked my parents for a sibling. They laughed and told me I had Maggie and her siblings and that was enough. They didn't need any other children than me. This made me feel special. Maggie and I played in the pack playground while my mother and father watched us. We were planning a big barbecue that evening with the pack. My and Maggie's parents were hoping that us playing at the park would tire us out so that we would go to sleep on time, but little did they know Maggie and I wanted to stay up and watch all the festivities. Maggie had been born to my uncle David and aunt Sarabella the same day that I was. We have been inseparable since. Maggie had been born to my uncle David and aunt Sarabella the same day that I was. Maggie was going to spend the night with me and we were going to watch everything from my bedroom window as it faced the backyard. There had been peace in our pack since I had been born, it was as if the rogues could not sense that our pack was anywhere around. We had peace treaties with all of the neighboring packs and we enjoyed good relationships between those packs. The pack had been putting up all the tents this afternoon while we played at the park. My mom watched from the park and would mind link the other pack members if she didn't like something they were doing or how they set something up. As the Luna, my mother could multitask like no one I had ever met. She likes having the best of both worlds, she once told me. Being a mother and a Luna, that is why she was with me at the park while watching the barbecue preparations. As we were heading back toward the pack house, my mother looked towards the forest and sniffed. She looked at Maggie and I and told us to run to the bunker. I looked at my mom and dad as they quickly shifted into their wolves and ran toward the forest. Maggie grabbed my hand and started dragging me toward the bunker. As we ran to the bunker, Maggie's parents ran past us. Her mother told us to run to Arabella and Vivian as they were at the bunker making sure everyone made it in and they were safe. After telling us what to do, they ran towards where my parents had taken off to. I looked at Maggie and dropped her hand and told her to run to her sisters. I had to check on my parents. Maggie screamed my name as I ran toward the forest. I could not stop, I knew something was wrong and I don't know why. But I felt like I had to stop it. As I approached the forest, I saw my parents being surrounded by dozens of rogues. I could not believe my eyes. All I could think was why now, why not before today? Just as the thought entered my mind, both my parents were attacked by multiple rogues along with my aunt and uncle. All I could think was were are all the warriors. Just as my parents' throats were ripped out by the rogues, the warriors appeared and started protecting my aunt and uncle. All I could do was scream for my parents as I watched the light leave their eyes. My scream was so loud that everyone in the forest dropped to their knees. My aunt and uncle looked at me as a bright light shot from my hands toward the rogues and they all fell to the ground with the light in their eyes extinguished. My aunt, uncle and the warriors looked at me like I was a mutant or a witch. I had no idea as to how I had made this happen, but instead of thanking me, my aunt and uncle ordered the warriors to take me into custody and place me in one of the prison cells until they could question me. The warriors grabbed my 10-year-old arms and dragged me to the cells. I did not put up any fight, as I had watched my parents being killed by dozens of rogues. I was taken deep into the forest, where the prison was located in an underground bunker. The warriors typed in the code to the bunker and dragged me down three flights of stairs, at which time they entered another code and walked me down the hall to a row of cells. The warrior on my left took out a key from his pocket and unlocked the cell and threw me inside. The cell was padded so that it was sound proof. There was no bed in the room, there was a hole in the floor that you were to use as a restroom. After the warriors closed the door to my cell, I crawled to the corner of the cell and curled up into a ball and cried like I had never cried before. I knew at that moment that I would never see my parents again. They would never tuck me into bed or kiss me goodnight again. I knew then that my life would never be the same.
