Chapter 2 My Name

The Alpha walked out of his office and asked an omega who was walking down the hall, if she knew where the Luna was located. The omega told the Alpha she had seen the Luna heading to their floor with a baby in her arms. Alpha Conrad walked up to the 4th floor of the pack house which was dedicated to the Alpha and his family. The Beta and Gamma shared the 3rd floor of the pack house, while all single warriors were housed on the 2nd floor. The first floor contacted the normal pack house living space, such as the kitchen, living room, and pack offices. The basement contained the game room, theater and a small workout room.

Alpha Conrad walked into his and Luna Sage's bedroom, only to see that a crib had been added to the room and Sage was standing over it admiring the sleeping baby. “Sage, how is the baby doing?” “She has been sleeping since I picked her up and brought her to the pack house my love.” “I spoke with the council and no one has reported a missing child. They are going to contact the local pack's to see if there are any pregnant women who are missing or if there are any missing babies. They seem to think they will have answers within a few days, but until then they are leaving the child in our care. They told me that if they are unable to locate her family or any other information on her, we will be able to submit the paperwork to officially adopt her. However, they will place her information on the registry in case someone comes forward later.” “Conrad , do you think that we will be able to keep her? I can't imagine that someone would leave her in the forest when she was only hours old. What kind of mother would do that to her baby, unless something terrible happened to her?” “Speaking of which, my love, the warriors were unable to locate any scent in the forest, including that of the baby. They searched for hours and they told me it was like she magically appeared out of no where.” “Oh, Conrad, I so want to keep her and so does Ara (my wolf), we just feel like she was meant to be ours.” “I felt the same my love, I have felt a strong desire to protect her when I first looked at her. My wolf Bastion felt the same as soon as he laid his eyes on her. Sage, she is very special. I can feel it.”

It has been four days since the baby had been discovered in the forest. “Alpha, there is a call for you from Councilman Michael Stevens on line 1,” Sara the office omega called into my office. “Thank you Sara, why don't you go take a break, I can handle things for a bit.” I picked up line one “Councilman Stevens, what can I do for you?” “Hello, Alpha Conrad. I have some information on the baby your Luna found. It seems that no pack is missing a pregnant pack member or a child. No one has any information about where this child could be from. Therefore, if you submit your adoption paperwork as soon as possible, we will fast track your adoption application. We want this child to have a permanent home as soon as possible and the council believe you and your Luna would be the best fit for her.” “Thank you Michael, we will have the paperwork submitted within the hour. You don't know what this means to myself and my Luna.” “Conrad, we have been friends for years, I know what this will mean to you and Sage. I am very happy for both of you. I will let you know when your application has been approved.” “Thank you Michael, we need to get together soon. I miss you my friend.” “I will call you next week and see what we can work out. Enjoy the rest of your day Conrad, and tell Sage hi for me.” “Will do, Michael.”

I raced up the stairs to the 4th floor. I approached my bedroom door, as I reached for the door handle I could hear my love, singing to the baby. I opened the door quietly and watched her gently swaying the baby in her arms as she sang to her. “Sage, I just heard from Councilman Stevens.” Sage, turned to me at the sound of my voice. I can see the fear in her eyes. I know she is afraid that they will take the baby from us. “Michael said she would be ours. They have been unable to locate any information about her or any family she may have. Michael asked us to submit our application for adoption and they would fast track the adoption. I brought the paperwork for you to sign so that we can get it sent right away.” Sage carefully placed the baby back in her bed and ran to me and launched herself into my arms, grabbing my face in between her hands and kissing me ever so gently. She then grabbed the papers from my hands and ran to her desk and signed them. We both walked over to the fax and sent the papers to the council. “My love, we are finally going to have our family, now to pick her name. Conrad, I want to name her Isabella and we can call her Bella. What do you think?” “Darling, I think it is perfect. Isabella “Bella” Hughes it shall be.”
