CHAPTER 14Riley jerked to his feet, water dripping down his face. Granny stood next to him, holding an empty cup in her hand. “I want you to listen to my voice,” she said. “Breathe in and out slowly with me.” She inhaled slowly then softly exhaled, telling Riley with her eyes to just follow her instructions. Riley could feel his heart racing and knew he was about to hyperventilate. As his legs turned into jelly and he was about to fall face-first, he was brought back around by a rush of peace that poured over him. Opening his eyes, he saw that Granny held one of his arms, keeping him upright until he found his footing.
“You were dreaming a very dark dream, but you are safe now. Do you understand?” Granny continued flooding him with a river of peace. Riley couldn’t take his eyes off her. H
