CHAPTER 16Jonathan and the other man turned to face Maggie. Jonathan neither smiled nor gave any other sign of recognition that he knew who she was. But the stranger standing next to Jonathan looked in shock and then disbelief.
“I know it’s been a while, but I wonder if you remember me,” she said, looking hopefully at Jonathan. “I haven’t been able to get you out of my mind.” Maggie was aware that she looked and sounded like an obsessed woman. The man standing next to Jonathan looked completely dumbfounded.
With the silence growing between them, the man standing next to Jonathan took the initiative. “My name is Riley,” he said. Then looked at her bandaged right hand and offered her his left hand.
