CHAPTER 28

2715 Words

CHAPTER 28Maggie awoke the next morning confused by her surroundings until the jumbled pieces of her memory fell back into place. Untangling her left hand from underneath the covers, she held her wristwatch a few inches from her face, finding that it only read six thirty. Knowing that sleep wouldn’t welcome her back, Maggie kicked her legs over the side of the bed, the feel of the carpet pulling her senses fully awake. Staring at the gray walls of her new room, Maggie finally welcomed the start of a new day. After seeing to her hygiene and getting dressed, she embarked on an idea that didn’t involve a microwave and a toaster. Finding eggs, bacon, and bread, she began busying herself with cooking breakfast. Losing herself in the process, she was startled when she heard Riley behind her.
