Amir felt wretched. There was a slick of sweat running between his shoulder blades, he felt clammy and his stomach was churning. Last time he"d felt like this it had been a combination of elderly chilli sauce and suspect marinated goat and he had been horribly sick. His palms were slicked with sweat, making it harder to do the fiddly tasks involved in packing up the merchandise. Conversely, his mouth and throat felt like ancient parchment, he could barely swallow and his lips felt like they were starting to c***k. He ran his tongue over them but it made little difference. His heart was racing, he could hear it fluttering in his ears. Looking out at the slowly emptying market streets, he could see the last burnished orange glow of the sun sinking.
