The next morning, she woke up to a knock on her door. It was her mother. “Can I come in, Aria?” she asked from outside the door. She didn't say a word; instead, she used the mindlink. “What do you need, Mom?” she asked. “You know what I need, baby girl. You know why I am knocking. We need to talk about this.” “There is nothing to talk about. Your daughter f****d my mate…” “Aria! Language!” her mom said, cautioning her. “I’m sorry, Mom, but if you want to talk to anyone, talk to the slut. No offense,” Her mom, seeing that she had no intention of opening the door or speaking to her, went back to the living room. Her father was waiting, and they didn't know what to do. Never in their lives did they expect that such a thing would happen to their daughters. Aria finally got out of bed and got ready for the day. She was angry, vengeful, and prepared to take on anything. Her wolf whimpered in her mind, and she cautioned her. "We don't have the time for this, Kara, our mate rejected us..." But before she could finish, her wolf barked at her, like she was trying to tell her she was wrong. Aria could only sigh. She knew what she was talking about. The moment she shared with the Alpha suddenly ran through her mind, sending a shiver down her spine. Not wanting to dwell too much, she mind-linked Nia, her friend, and asked her to meet up. By the time Nia knocked on her door, Aria was already done with her business. She was putting on a jacket and waiting for someone, or something, to help her walk out of the room. When Nia knocked, she thanked her stars. “Hey, girl. Are you ready to go?” she asked with a cheer in her voice. “Yeah,” Aria replied and walked out, saying nothing. Nia looked at her suspiciously but said nothing. When they got to the living room, her mother and father immediately looked up and went to her. “Aria, come on, light bug, we need to talk,” Darius, her father, said. “Daddy, I love you. I do, but I can’t do this right now, not today. Please,” Aria said and walked out of the house with Nia on her heels, but not before giving her father a peck on the cheek. She might be mad at their other daughter, but she still loved her parents. “I’m going to make them pay,” she said out loud, “But not with claws or blood. With something far more painful.” Nia arched a brow. “Hey, you’ve not said anything to me. What happened?” she asked. Aria at first shook her head, not wanting to say it out loud. "Come on, who else would you tell anyway? Spit it out," Sighing, Aria grabbed her hand and pulled her to a corner. “Kael cheated on me with my sister, and I rejected him.” "What?!" Nia exclaimed, unable to believe her friend. "What exactly...? How could he? How could she? How could they? Oh my God! How are you?" she asked, looking really pained that Aria had to go through this mess. "I'm perfect, can't you see?" she said with a soft smile. Nia immediately rushed in to hug her, and Aria held back tears about to spill from her eyelids. She had promised herself she wouldn't cry, not in front of her friend, her ex-mate, or her sister. She wasn't going to let anyone look at her like she was weak. When they were done, they both walked out of the corner holding hands and walked towards the training ground. I might as well train and be the best since I don't have a mate, she thought to herself and that made her wolf snarl at her. she began to wonder why she was acting that way. Her wolf was not saying anything but making sounds at her all through the night. when she got to the grounds she saw Kael and Lyra holding hands and smiling at each other. She wanted to growl at them but the pain she felt as they kissed could not let her. Even though the bond had been broken, she still felt an immense pain when he cheated on her. Nia, sensing what was going on, held onto her hand and drew her attention to her instead. "Now is not the time to dwell on them, Kira. You have to stay strong. You have to make them pay." Kira looked at her best friend, nodded and smiled because she was right. Suddenly there was a shift in the wind, but Aria was the only one who could sense it. The Alpha had just walked into the training grounds with his beta and was being greeted by their trainer. Aria strained her neck to get a glimpse of him over the crowd that had gathered but all she could see was his neck. As she continued, the crowd parted and a circle was formed such that the alpha, his Beta and the trainer were in the middle of the circle. Then her eyes landed on the Alpha, only to find out that he was already staring at her. Suddenly, she felt it again, the sparks. everywhere the alpha's gaze went, ignited with passion. she wanted to touch him, or just be near him. it felt weird, very weird and inexplicable. her best friend was saying something beside her but she was so lost in his gaze that she didn't hear a thing. "Mate!" the Alpha suddenly growled out loud and all hell broke loose. Everyone was surprised. "Wasn't she Kael's mate just a moment ago? What is going on?" someone in the crowd asked. When Aria saw what was going on, she took a step back and made a move to run. Her gaze turned to the alpha and he looked at her with warnings in his eyes, almost daring her to run, but Aria was long gone. She turned and ran like her limbs were on fire. Not wanting to disappoint his mate, the Alpha chased after her. "You better run fast, mate because if I catch you, you are going to be baring your neck for me," those were the last words Aria heard before she felt a sharp pain in her neck and a moan left her mouth. "Mate?" she whispered with a smile. "Mate!" the Alpha affirmed with a smile of his own. But someone in the shadows, news had already travelled far that one of the most ruthless Alpha had found a second chance mate and a figure lurking in the shadows had a wicked grin on his face.
