Who Am I?

That’s what Nyoka used to call out to me when I started dreaming. I ask Nyoka if she can explain and she sighs telling me that she still can’t tell me everything but this is what she can. You are the only remaining descendant of the Royal family. We were paired before the great fall of the royals when Selene first seen the darkness forming in the witches hearts.

I, Nyoka Queen of the Jungle was paired with you to become Queen of all creatures and put the world back into harmony. So Goddess Selene knew the witches were turning to dark magic and didn’t stop them? I am sad with the thoughts of all the pain and suffering this world went through. I am angry because if this had been stopped before all this transpired then I would have known my birth family. I feel robbed of a life I should have been able to enjoy.

I understand how you feel we feel the same because we are one together but we still must understand that there was a reason she did not interfere. Do you know this reason Nyoka because it better be a good reason. I only know that she tells me she wasn’t allowed to interfere.

I don’t understand who or what can stop a goddess since I don’t understand our history like everyone else. I can help teach you some history but the first order of business is to teach you to use our powers. We have more than what we have done so far? I am amazed that there is more since I feel so amazing and strong already.

We are all powerful because we are representatives of goddess Selene herself. Dark magic can still affect us but not as much as it would if we had been born normally. Unlike most Royals you have powers of most creatures not just Magic and shifting. I want you to think about V and listen to her mind. I concentrate on V dozing off next to me trying to listen to her mind.

I can’t hear anything but I feel her emotions at first it was excitement then sadness and fear. Nyoka what was that? As we get stronger together your powers will develop. Those were the emotions that Va Lara experienced in her dream. Do you think she’s okay? She truly is the only friend I have.

I think she’s is been through a lot in her life and needs us as much as we need her. We were not the only one who was robbed of the life we should have had. We are connected to her, she is bound to us as a guild in this life. Selene has protectors for us as well and now that we are awakened they will find us.

I am unsure how I feel about others lives being placed in harms way.

V starts to stir next to me before waking up completely. I can’t believe I slept so long do you wanna trade off? We are almost there actually the address you gave me is only 15 minutes more. She nods and gets two bottles of water handing me one. Hopefully we can rest here at least for the night and decide if we will back track to Gibson where that PO Box is. I am still not sure we should trust him not to set you up.

I totally understand her fear and Nyoka sighs in my mind. We are safe from him he’s not a dark witch and his wolf can’t lie to me. Ummm what?? I squeak out loud. V looks over at me as I explain what Nyoka just told me she nods her head and tells me she knew he was a wolf shifter. She says she didn’t know that his wolf couldn’t lie to us.

Nyoka tells me that it’s not just wolves no shifter beasts can lie to us and they will all immediately recognize us as their true Queen. This was why shifters were punished almost to extinction before when the war started, Nyoka tells me. The dark witch Queen as she calls herself now has a spell she casts on all shifters locking them away from their beasts if they aren’t loyal to her.

The more I hear about this dark with Queen the more I understand she needs to be dealt with but I don’t understand how I am supposed to help. We pull into the cabin in the mountains of Saluda and I am so happy to finally get to stretch my legs. We walk to the cabin to make sure nobody is here. As we get close I scrunched my nose up at an awful smell.

I look over at V as she is doing the same but she continues to walk inside. There inside the door is a little girl can’t be more than five and an old lady looking close to 90. I paused my step but V just walks right inside like this was expected. Charity let me introduce you to Gabby my caretaker. I reach out to shake her hand and see the lady is blind by the solid whites of her eyes.

She is a dark witch Nyoka says coming to the surface of my mind looking out of my eyes. I can feel Nyoka’s protectiveness over me and it’s comforting. V raises her hands and starts to explain she was forced to become a dark witch it was not within her control please don’t harm her. The little girl stands protectively in front of the old lady her hands turning green as the room starts smelling like lavender.

We look at Gabby and Nyoka tells me to try and read her mind. I focus on her and images start to flow through me. I see her when she was little in what looks like a camp, they are beating them until they give into the darkness. She was telling the truth she didn’t want this life I watch until now and all I see is her kindness to V and the little girl named Rose.

She took Rose from the camp and the girl is a white witch. I will not harm her I tell V and Rose and I see the weight lifted off of V’s shoulders. She loves this woman for protecting her and this child. If they find her they will kill her and Rose will go to a camp to turn her dark. I understand Nyoka needed to be sure she could be trusted.
