I look over at Va Lara and she’s grinning from ear to ear explaining she has this all planned out from the moment we met. I am stunned how did she know but before I can ask she is answering. I am a Fae Faerie and can use telepathy. She is scanning my face to see my reaction. I giggle like she can’t just read what I am thinking. I don’t listen in all the time it’s more your louder thoughts you project unguarded.

If I want to hear a certain thing I need to touch them. Now I understand and shrug but that doesn’t understand how she knew about me when I didn’t know a thing. We have waited for the lost Royals to appear and the prophecy to be fulfilled. That still doesn’t tell me how you knew it was me when I didn’t know.

You haven’t awoken yet but certain characteristics were expected of a Royal and one of those is your eyes. Nobody human or supernatural has teal eyes. Plus you look like our last Queen with that wild lions main you have. Have you spoken to your beast yet? My beast umm no I have no pets.

The look on her face was priceless and she sighs. I forget you don’t understand but yes you have because as soon as I asked you thought of some weird dreams. Oh yeah I been having those dreams for a few months now but there is no beast or animals it’s a lady that calls me. She shakes her head no ma’am that’s your inner beast the one the moon goddess Selenes blessed you with.

I look at her to see if she’s joking or not but she seems to be telling the truth and my gut feeling is to trust her. What’s her name? Nyoka is the name the voice gave me. She looks stunned Are you sure? Umm yes why I am not sure what that look on your face is. Let’s wait to see if you awaken tonight or not and I am sure if you do then she will answer all your questions.

By the time we get to the dorms it’s about 7pm. We walk inside like we are planning to stay and eat then shower. It’s now 10pm and everyone’s under curfew so this is the best time to leave. We are both in dark long sleeve shirts and dark tights with black boots on. We are hoping to go un-noticed by security and straight to the rental. We had parked her car right beside the rental to make a shift exit.

The rental was some sorta dark SUV and as we hop inside I noticed it’s packed full. There are suit cases and boxes of assorted snacks and foods. There are cases of water and two coolers of food. She was definitely prepared and I wasn’t even sure where we were going. I had opted to leave my phone back at her dorm so that it wouldn’t set off any alarms if I wiped it.

I am nervous about the spy and any other trackers but Va Lara says she can’t sense anyone following us and they wouldn’t know about the rental to track it. She has an atlas and has highlighted our path. She’s taking the first three hours but she assured me we will arrive at the first cabin before midnight. I start feeling anxious and like my skin was itchy.

I think Va Lara noticed I was getting uncomfortable because she started with small talk. So you can call me V from now on since it’s not as recognizable as Va Lara. I nod and tell her to call me Charity since I would be changing names soon. I start getting sharp pains from the base of my skull straight down my spine.

I definitely feel like something is wrong and I am scared. Calm down Rylie umm I mean Charity this is normal for shifters. Deep breaths and we are almost here. Ten more minutes and we will rest at my cabin for the night. I am sweating bullets and breathing as deep as I can. The pains getting worse and my skull feels like it’s going to implode any second.

We are here hang on I will help you get out. I was grateful for all of her help since I didn’t feel like I could move without dying. V helped me into the nearby field and laid me on the grass sitting next to me. Now Charity this is going to be painful and it may last around few hours or a few minutes. This all depends on you and how much you fight the shift.

I am in so much pain my words come out in whining panting. What shift? I don’t understand what’s happening to me V. She calm while she tells me about how I am shifting for the first time into my goddess given beast. No I am not I tell her feeling like this must be a nightmare or maybe I have lost my mind. What did I get myself into because I am terrified.

It takes around 35 mins of pain and skull splitting pain, bones snapped and rearranging to fit a new form. Just as I feel like passing out it’s all over and I am laying on the ground with my eyes squeezed shut. Everything sounds so loud and all the smells are so intense. Then I hear her voice in my mind, it quiet at first but clear.

Nyoka is that you? Yes hun it’s me we need to get up it’s important. V is standing close looking around like she hears something and out pops Dorthy. Ugggh of all the people in the world why her? Can’t we catch a break and get one day without you? Dorthy I am not sure why you followed us here. V tells her and I can see the absolute evil in her eyes. I am still shifted but Nyoka says we are too weak to run just yet.
