CHAPTER 45: THE COST OF PROOF We didn’t go home immediately. That was the first rule Paul made the second we stopped running. “Not yet,” he said, still trying to catch his breath as we stood hidden in the dark alley, the city noise moving around us like nothing had happened. “If they tracked us, they’ll expect us to run straight back.
