FarmlandVenus sat on the front steps with her back to me. I walked down and marveled at the smell of horse drop­pings, which reminded me of the circus. I looked around and saw two horses in the distance. Venus looked back and saw me. She smiled and stood. She was shorter than I remembered, a hand taller not a giant like her parents. “How was your bath?” she asked me. Her hair was down and I realized she had brown hair that matched her eyes. I looked around and asked, “Which way do I go to find that second break in the wall?” She pointed with a slightly bent finger and said, “That way.
