CHAPTER FOUR ( KAIS High School A Reality..)

KAIS High school is really more than what I expected. Truth be told, I can't compare it to my former school KLANFON High School.The gigantic buildings with attractive designs filled the school which is trying to portray that the school is not a low class school. Flowers were also used to beautify the whole school which I must confess is very beautiful.

After the principal delivered the good news that I was awarded the scholarship after putting me in suspense, God knows how excited I and my family were and in no time started parking my things as the principal told me I was resuming on Monday since School has resumed weeks before and surprisingly he volunteered to take me to school,he was very proud of my feat as it is an achievement for the school.

Apart from the scholarship, the foundation sent some amount of money also which I used in buying my things and the rest to my Mom to help her clear some debt though was not expecting such.

With tears, I departed from my family with the promise to make her proud and off the principal took me to school. He advised me and after praying for me, bade me goodbye and left leaving me to my fate.

I carried my belongings into the school after the securities at the gate had confirmed that I am a new student and not an outsider. I asked for the office of the Principal to which I was directed to by one of the security guards.

I got to the principal's office and after several knock on the door, I was told to enter the office. I met a beautiful woman probably in her late forties on seat and without being told I knew she's the principal and she appeared busy.

" You must be the lucky winner of the Roserman Foundation competition?" She asked in a tone I could not interpret whether it is a friendly or harsh without sparing me a glance as she continued looking at the documents in front of her.

" Yes ma, I'm Helena Bright by name."I said immediately, since I could guess she was instructing me to say my name indirectly.

" I will call on someone who will take you to your room and also direct you to your class." She said and dialed a number on her phone instructing the person to come to her office while I still stayed in her office standing.

The person came few minutes later, a young lady who I guessed was a teacher came and I was told to follow her after the principal had handed over my school uniforms to me and phone as she said the foundation also asked that I should be given the phone to help with my academic activities.

The lady who later introduced herself as Miss Tacha took me to my room and when we got in, I was amazed by the beauty of the room. It was a hostel for two students with two beds placed side by side. I dropped my belongings in a wardrobe beside the bed she pointed to as my bed and changed into the school uniform immediately as I was going to class with her.

After changing my clothes, I followed her to my class anxiously as my heart was beating fast. I was actually anxious of what I will say when we get to the class and stand before unfamiliar faces but I can't waive it as I had already gotten to the school already and even near the class as that. The class was noisy as we approached the class and I wondered what was going on.

" What is happening around here?"Miss Tacha asked as we saw two girls fighting as we got to the class drawing their hairs while others were merely enjoying the scene.

" Don't mind them, they were fighting just because Blessing called Greatness wristwatch fake. Greatness annoyed at the statement slapped her and the fight began." One fair guy said to Miss Tacha.

" What!! does that mean that you should turn the class to a market fighting. This should be the last time this is going to happen." She warned them and then told the two of them to go and sit down at their various seats.

" Now,this is a new student here in the school, she's going to introduce herself now before we start the class."

" My name is Helena Bright, a science student." There was nothing I could really say apart from this, so I only said this having a view of the whole class while I tried to hide my anxiety.

Miss Tacha then pointed to a seat at the middle of the second row, a seat beside a fair short lady as my seat henceforth. I went to sit there while Miss Tacha commenced her lecture, she's taking us Mathematics my best subject.

" Good morning,my name is Livy, it's nice meeting you." The lady whose sit is beside mine said smilingly lovingly at me.

" It's nice meeting you also,is this the first class for today?" I asked.

" The second one,physics is the first one while Mathematics is the second one." Livy said while I nodded and thank her.

I was not paying attention to what the teacher was saying as I was thinking of how I was going to survive in this place. The incidence of two students fighting over a petty thing wristwatch not even about an educative issue dazzled me and I understand that things might not really go well here due to my financial status and class.

" Who can solve the question on the board?" Miss Tacha asked and that jolted me back to life and made me remember I am in class. A tall girl who was fighting someone over wristwatch stood up and went to solve the question on the board I believe to impress the teacher. The question to me was simple though so I believed everybody should be able to solve it.

" You're wrong this can't be the final answer," Miss Tacha said to her and instructed her to go back to her seat. She asked for more people to stand up and solve it but nobody stood up I believe was due to fear of not getting it right.

' If you're all dumb and can't solve this simple question,let me call on the new student to solve it," she said and asked me to come and solve the question on the board. I stood up to go and solve the question but I noticed some students mocking faces as I walk past them to the board.

Without wasting the teacher's time, I solved the question to the amazement of the teacher and the students who had believed just like the girl who stood up to solve it, I would also not get it right. Miss Tacha went through the solution and after she was satisfied with what she saw told me to return to my seat not without praising me, after which she left the class.

The other classes for the day also went well and I observed that after that mathematics class, the students started relating with me a little and more openly. When it was around 12 PM in the afternoon, the students started leaving the class while I was still on my seat.

" Won't you follow us," Livy said as she stood up to follow them to where they are going.

" Where are you people going?" I asked her.

" To the cafeteria of course, it's time for breakfast." She said to me while I also stood up to follow her as I don't know the way.

The cafeteria were filled with a lot of students obviously all the students. Some already eating while some were still serving themselves. You serve yourself and pick whatever you want and the quantity you want. I also picked what I want to eat and when to sit down near Livy with some other girls also on that table.

" I'm Beauty and you are?" A tall beautiful lady who sat down beside Livy asked me smiling which showed her set of shining white teeth.

" I'm Helena Bright," I said smiling a little, I still don't know who I can really move along with making me miss my friend Jasmine.

" Let me introduce others to you, I don't need to introduce Livy but this is Rosaline,Anna, and Selena." She introduced them to me who I assume they're her friends.

" It's nice to meet you people," I said smiling at them while they also said theirs.

" You must be very brilliant for you to be able to solve that mathematics question Miss Tacha wrote on the board."

" It was just a lucky question that I had come across before," while I wondered what was really special in that question Miss Tacha must have portrayed herself as someone who you can't solve her questions I thought.

" Ohhh!! but I still love as you solved the question you need to see Miss Tacha face when you got the question right" she said laughing and beckoned on me to continue eating as we had few minutes more to spend in the cafeteria.

The rest of the day was quite strenuous and interesting as I had to go and register for some things that has to do with academic clubs just like the science and technical club, debate club and even at the music club. I love music a lot and when I saw that there was a club for that, I immediately signed up for that. Thanks to Beauty who served as my guide throughout today it was easy to achieve without wasting much time as she took me to the places I needed to go.

I was starting to like Beauty who even though is from a rich family which is obvious merely looking at her, could still relate well with people oblivious of their status. What was even funny is that she is my roommate in the room as she is the second person whose bed is beside mine.

" Since when have you been here?" I asked Beauty.

" Since my junior school. My parents are the owners of this school. You know it has been established for decades so my dad inherited it from my grandfather," she said to me.

" Seriously? You mean the most influential school in this whole Trembor belongs to you?" I asked with my mouth open.

" Yes,so there is nothing I can't tell you about this school," Beauty said with pride.

" Then tell me few things about the school then" I said as I am really curious.

" This school was founded years ago by Sir KAIS who is my grandfather. It's like a family business as the family are in charge of everything in the school even the Principal Mrs.Stella is also part of the family though a disciplinarian. You met her today?" She asked me.

" Yes, but she didn't really look at me as she was busy doing some things."

" That is how she does, tough and stubborn even to me her niece. She has never been married as she said it's a distraction though I heard that she lost her dream man to her best friend so she made up her mind not to marry." Beauty said and with the way she's saying it you would be able to deduce that she's not fond of her aunt.

" What!!! She is definitely someone who won't tolerate nonsense." I said considering the fact that you didn't marry because someone married your crush.

" Also be careful of the teachers, not all of them are good people. Some of them are with the orientation that because students whose parents are wealthy attend this school,they won't be given the respect desired and so do everything possible to destroy the lives of students as they had done for some students in the past."

" Noted, thank you. I really appreciate you for this information, this school won't be as easy as I envisioned," I said.

" It's nothing,what are friends for? also,you will also enjoy your stay in this school. It would be filled with fun don't worry. KAIS is an interesting school. Goodnight, I need to sleep, today was hectic for me.

" Yes, I'm also tired let me also sleep since I'm just getting used to the school," Helena said yawning. Goodnight!!!!! I said and faced the other side of my bed trying to find sleep while also thinking of my mom and my brother. In fact, I'm just trying to get some sleep when I heard a knock on the door at this time.

" Who is at the door?"........
