CHAPTER 24
(Leanne’s POV)
Leanne was having a peaceful morning.
Which honestly—
Should’ve been her first warning.
Because peace never lasted long around St. Aurelius Academy.
Currently, she walked across campus carrying pastries Kai forced her to bring for the literature club.
Apparently everyone in the club had “terrible eating habits.”
Mostly Chris.
Obviously.
Leanne quietly smiled to herself while walking through the academy courtyard.
Things had changed a lot lately.
The literature club became important to her faster than expected.
Chris made every day brighter and louder.
Carl made her feel strangely safe.
Ren made quiet moments comforting.
Kai made warmth feel natural.
And somehow—
Without realizing it—
Leanne started looking forward to seeing them every morning.
Dangerous.
Very dangerous.
Then suddenly—
“LEA?!”
Leanne froze instantly.
That voice—
Before she could even react—
Someone slammed into her with a dramatic hug.
“OH MY GOSH IT’S ACTUALLY YOU.”
Leanne blinked repeatedly in shock.
“…Mika?”
The girl immediately pulled back while gripping Leanne’s shoulders emotionally.
Bright auburn hair.
Sharp chaotic eyes.
Way too much energy for morning hours.
Yep.
Definitely Mika Villanueva.
Mika gasped dramatically.
“YOU GOT PRETTIER.”
“You got louder.”
“THANK YOU.”
Leanne burst into laughter instantly.
Nothing about Mika changed.
Absolutely nothing.
Mika was the type of person who entered every room like a natural disaster.
Loud.
Dramatic.
Emotional.
And somehow lovable anyway.
“What are you doing here?!” Leanne asked.
“I transferred!”
“…To St. Aurelius?!”
Mika puffed her chest proudly.
“Scholarship student excellence.”
Leanne immediately hugged her again happily.
“Oh my gosh.”
“I KNOW.”
Honestly?
Leanne didn’t realize how much she missed her until now.
Back then—
Before life became complicated—
It used to be the three of them together constantly.
Leanne.
Chris.
Mika.
Childhood chaos trio.
Then suddenly—
Mika gasped dramatically.
“WAIT.”
Leanne blinked.
“What?”
“DOES CHRISTOPHER REYES STILL EXIST?”
Leanne snorted instantly.
“Unfortunately.”
Mika grabbed her arm immediately.
“TAKE ME TO HIM.”
Leanne laughed helplessly while getting dragged emotionally across campus instead.
Honestly—
Chris and Mika together again sounded dangerous for society.
Very dangerous.
---
The moment they entered the literature clubroom—
Chaos immediately began.
Chris looked up from stealing Kai’s pastries.
Then froze completely.
Silence.
“…Mika?”
Mika pointed dramatically.
“CHRISTOPHER.”
Chris immediately launched himself off the couch.
“YOU’RE ALIVE?!”
“YOU’RE STILL SHORT?!”
“EXCUSE ME.”
Then suddenly—
The two of them started arguing loudly within seconds.
Like absolutely no time had passed.
Leanne laughed helplessly while the others stared in confusion.
Mika crossed her arms proudly.
“You still owe me twenty pesos from seventh grade.”
Chris gasped loudly.
“YOU REMEMBER THAT?!”
“I REMEMBER EVERYTHING.”
Kai looked exhausted already.
“…There’s two of him now.”
“That sounds horrifying,” Ren muttered quietly.
Meanwhile Carl stared at Mika carefully before blinking.
“…Wait. Mika?”
Mika slowly looked toward him.
Then immediately gasped louder.
“CARL GOT HOT.”
Dead silence.
Carl nearly choked on his coffee.
Leanne collapsed into laughter instantly.
Chris looked deeply betrayed.
“WHY DOES EVERYONE SAY THAT ABOUT HIM.”
“Because LOOK AT HIM.”
“I HAVE FEELINGS.”
Kai snorted loudly.
Even Ren looked seconds away from laughing.
Meanwhile Mika dramatically walked around the clubroom while inspecting everyone.
“So THIS is the legendary literature club.”
Chris looked offended.
“We’re legendary?”
“You literally wouldn’t stop talking about them online.”
Silence.
Everyone slowly turned toward Chris.
Chris froze instantly.
“…Oops.”
Kai narrowed his eyes.
“You talked about us online?”
Chris pointed dramatically at Leanne.
“SHE’S DISTRACTING YOU.”
“That doesn’t even make sense.”
Mika burst into laughter before suddenly pausing.
Then slowly—
Her expression softened slightly while looking at Chris carefully.
“…You still smile the same.”
Chris blinked.
“…Huh?”
Mika crossed her arms casually.
“Like you’re trying too hard to look okay.”
Silence.
Leanne froze slightly.
Carl’s expression shifted subtly.
Ren slowly lowered his book.
Kai quietly stopped moving for a second.
And Chris—
Chris laughed immediately.
Bright.
Easy.
Carefree.
“What does that even mean?”
Mika stared at him quietly for another second.
Then suddenly smiled again casually.
“Nothing.”
The atmosphere relaxed afterward.
But somehow—
Leanne noticed it.
For one tiny moment—
Chris looked nervous.
Actually nervous.
Then instantly—
He became loud again.
“ANYWAY,” Chris announced dramatically, “Mika cannot join this club because she bullied me emotionally as a child.”
Mika gasped loudly.
“You ate glue.”
“That happened ONE TIME.”
“TWICE.”
“YOU PROMISED NOT TO EXPOSE ME.”
Leanne burst into laughter again while chaos completely consumed the clubroom.
And honestly?
Seeing everyone together like this felt strangely perfect.
