Chapter 1.

'What the hell Sarah?! I thought I taught you better than that!' I hear my mum yell from the phone. 'Yes mum, I'm sorry, but...' 'No buts! I don't wanna hear it! I am calling your dad! You are not skipping class again.' 'No, please. I won't do it again. It was just Art. I got an A in history after that. I needed to re-read everything before History class.' 'You are lucky you are great at school. But it will never happen again. You have a few more weeks. Keep your record impeccable. I will talk to you tonight at home. Love you' 'Bye mum. Love you more.' I lied, I know. But I did get an A. And I had a great coffee break with Tina before that. But she can not tell dad. He is gonna flip, and I won't be able to leave the house for a month. He is going to give me the speech again. How they are working hard to pay for her education. That money doesn’t grow on trees, and how she has to give her best at school. I am quite aware that I am going to an amazing and expensive private school. Besides, I have great grades, and I even got an early admission to a great University, with a scholarship too. They won’t have to pay for my school in a couple of months at all. As long as I keep the good grades there as well. Which I intend to do. But I can not be a saint. I am almost 18 and I need to live a little. I never even had a boyfriend. I would never have been kissed if it weren't for 'spin the bottle'. Not that it was good anyways, but Tina says it has to be with someone I am in love with for it to be amazing. After talking to my mum I say as I drop my phone on my bed and lie down next to it. Just as I am about to close my eyes is ping. I stretch to get the phone and open the text right away. -Are we on for tonight? ~ Tina -Hopefully, I just need to keep my mum happy during dinner and after that I should be good to go. ~ Sarah -Well, keep her happy. And then wear that new red dress. ~ Tina -Don't you think it will be a bit too much? ~ Sarah -Ofc not! There hasn't been an 18th birthday party in weeks. We have to look our best. K will be there. ~ Tina -Fine. But I doubt K will even look my way. Pick me up at 8? ~ Sarah -Sure. See you soon. ~ Tina I guess lying around is not an option anymore, I have to wash my hair and get my clothes ready. I hear my parents get home and after a quick catch up I tell them about the party and I go have a bath before dinner. After dinner I do my makeup, curl my hair and put it up on one side. Nothing too fancy, but I still look good. I am pleased with the red dress, it is tight and makes me look curvy but slim too. It is quite short, mid thigh, so I wear a thin coat over it, my mum can not see just how short it is. Right at 8pm, my phone pings and I run to the door saying goodbye to my parents. They are watching a show, so I am able to slip with them not really checking how I look. I sigh with relief and hurry to enter Tina's car. 'Damn, you look good!' says Tina looking me up and down. 'Well, you are not bad yourself!' I say staring back at her. She really does look great. Wearing a short sparkling rose dress with spaghetti straps. And black stilettos. I have no idea who she can walk, let alone drive wearing those. 'Soo..' Tina looks at me with a smirk. I cut her off before she has a chance to say whatever she wants to. 'I already told you. He will not look my way. He is all over Jasmin. Besides, it is not like we were ever a thing. He said we should grab a drink sometime. I said sure. And that was it. Keith is just…' 'Fine, fine. I am sorry. I know you pretty much crossed him off when you saw them together. You don't do triangles. But you know, you need to give someone a chance. You will never find a boyfriend if you don't give anyone a chance.' 'I don't need a boyfriend. I am fine like this. You have Sam, and it is not moonlight and roses. I will find 'the one' someday. He will want me and...' 'And he will want you and only you. It will be love for the books. I know about your fairytale. But can we forget about it for tonight and have fun. Maybe you can make out with some of the many that will try to hit on you tonight? Looking like that there will be a line.' Tina smirked and it made me laugh. 'You are silly. There never is a line. Maybe a few drink offers. Ok, I promise I will accept one drink tonight. Maybe dance a bit. But you can't leave me alone. Sam…' 'Sam will be getting the cold shoulder again. That will teach him to stop texting with other girls. I will not leave your side.' Tina was sad. I took her hand in mine. 'You can do so much better.' I wispered. 'I know.' She silently replied. 'Come on, we are here.' 'Who is the birthday boy again? I didn't see the invitation' I asked while we entered the huge hall of the fancy restaurant where tonight's 18th birthday was held. She started to reply but was cut off by Sam who ran to her and started spinning her and kissing her all over her face. 'Hi Sarah, you look hot tonight!' I rolled my eyes at Sam. 'Thanks, I guess.' I replied, trying to keep my eyes from staying backwards. Tina managed to get away from him and held my hand. 'Tonight I am going to have fun with Sarah. I already told you not to come near me. Just… Stay away ok. I am still furious and…' 'Tina, babe, I already told you I am sorry…' 'Keep it. It is not enough. Stop doing it, or else we are done!' With that she started inside and I had to follow after giving a silent 'give her some space' to Sam. I liked Sam, but he was a player and it was hard to let go of the old habits, even though he was obviously crazy about Tina. We entered the beautifully decorated hall. I admired how it was filled with bar tables and high chairs with high flower arrangements in the center of each table. The waitresses wearing very short dresses were running around everywhere serving glamorously dressed young people. Most of them were from our school, but some were completely unfamiliar faces. We took a seat on an empty table near the stage. It looked like it was gonna be live music, which is not a regular thing at these birthday parties. But I guess the birthday boy was rich and wanted to impress. I wondered again who the birthday boy was. We had a bunch of rich kids at our school, but this looked like it was a completely higher level. I started to ask Tina again who it was when someone tapped me on the shoulder. I looked behind me and was met with the most beautiful green eyes I have ever seen. The guy was tall and handsome. He had a strong jawline and when he gave me a smile had the cutest dimples. I didn't remember seeing him before at school, but something about him seemed familiar. He cleared his throat. 'Hi, can I buy you a drink?'
