Chapter 3
Sebastian's POV
Dangling my keys, I tossed them over to the driver and sat behind the car. Without asking questions, the driver knew we were heading to the Luca Mansion.
I kept on staring at my wrist watch from time to time. I needed to get to the mansion as early as I could.
Marcus just returned to the country, he had a lot of pending paperwork and board meetings that I had been holding up since he flew out. That's like a whole bunch of work load.
Anthony Hale, the head of security kept my phone buzzing with calls. What could the issue be?
Anyway, I ignored the calls and headed to the mansion.
"You can keep the keys" I adjusted my Teal coloured tie as I spoke to the driver
"I might need you to take me somewhere anytime soon, so just hold on to them" He passed my briefcase to the Butler, and I stepped into the mansion.
As expected, all the staff were doing one thing or the other. Everyone looked dead serious like some sort of dictator was present. Working with Marcus for years now, he definitely loathes insubordination.
"Good morning Sebastian. Good to see you" Anthony Hale corned me
"Good morning 'Hale. Very delighted to see you" I walked on
"Been a while you came around this premises" He continued "I got concerned"
"No need for that Hale. I really would love to catch up with you, but I need to meet Marcus right away. It is super urgent" I tapped his shoulder and tried to pull away. He firmly gripped my wrist, and pulled me back.
"That won't be necessary Sebastian. Marcus, as you must know, just returned from the states, and is having a good nap"
I looked at my wrist watch, I chuckled
"Good nap? It is already deep into the morning. Marcus is not much of a sleeper. Now let me see him"
Hale cleared his throat
"He left instructions though. You are to go into the city and pay The Anderson's a visit. To get the wedding preparations going "
I was thrown off guard
"I should pay them a visit? C'mon Hale. You know some low level staff can handle it " I tapped on my left leg. I was irritated.
"Well,he asked that you do it. He must have his reasons. Have a good one Sebastian " Hale walked away.
I stood fixated on that spot. I had been the one handling the board members. They were on the verge of getting upset with Marcus because he had a lot of unattended meetings and files. But I kept things running. Just to here this?. Fair play Marcus.
I angrily walked to the parking lot and got into the car.
This is so sick.
It took a lot of patience and tolerance for me to pay the first two visits to Mr Anderson. Why can't someone else handle it? I have real pressing things to do. Not this.
It did not take much time, I found myself a few feet away from The Anderson's house.
Standing at a safe distance away from the house, I watch Mia as she slammed the door in so much rage. I can understand that rage, because I'm currently facing it too.
She had probably gotten the news. Poor Mia.
Moving away from her grandfather's house, I didn't take my eyes off her. She walked into the city looking so frail and pitiful.
Sensing my presence, she stopped and looked in my direction.
"Should we go after her now?" The driver asked
"No, let's watch her" I responded while handing the binoculars over to him.
"But sir, I think she has spotted us" He egged on
"And I said no, let her cool off. I do not have the strength to banter words with someone as pissed as her" I continued staring at her.
When she noticed I wouldn't budge, she kept on moving.
I wondered what was going on in that little head of hers.
Thinking about it right now, Marcus would have easily sent someone else to monitor her, but no, he sent me.
"You know what? Let's go after her. I'm tired of playing this game" I got into the car and the driver drove off.
She realized that she was being followed and began running
"Wtf, she wants to run right? Well, I love a good chase. Slow down. Let her run"
I loved how helpless she looked. She must be so frustrated right now. The poor thing.
"Get I'm the car Mia, we're taking you home" When I hard my full of the chase, I finally stopped. The blood on her face drained when she heard my voice.
She kept standing at that spot as though she was fixed right there. I sighed.
"Mia Anderson, get into the car before I force you to do so"
"Where are you taking me to?" She cleared her throat and asked
"Home. Now get in" I spat out.
"Home? I don't…..
"I do not have time for this, if you want me to get hard on you, the pleasure would be all mine missy" I caught her off.
She reluctantly got into the back of the car and sat beside me. Avoiding eye contact with me, she sat still and kept staring out the window.
When we got to the house, neighbors around kept staring and wondering what the issue could be. I disliked being around people of the lower class. The noise from outside the compound got Mr Anderson's attention and he came out.
"You again? What do you want. I said you should give me some time" The lines on his forehead deepened.
I ignored him. "Well, hello there Mr Anderson,we meet again. I brought your little baby back home. Apparently, someone looked lost. I thought she might go astray, that's why I helped her get home safely" I smirked.
Mia opened the door and ran out to meet her grandfather, taking shelter behind him, she gave me the looks that could kill.
"That isn't the reason for your coming. Go straight to the point" Mr Anderson angrily said.
I pushed him aside and walked into the house
"How rude of you to keep your guest outside. Well, I can see that you have already briefed our dearest Mia, so I came here with my dressers (I signalled the driver to let the two women in) to try a few wedding dresses with Mia" I smiled.
"Wedding dresses? How? I just got the news. Can't you guys just let me process everything?"
I ignored her and continued.
"You need to get your fittings done." I said
" Don't I have a say in any of this?, you people are about to ruin my life and you aren't even bothered, all you care so much about is your sily reputation" Mia said angrily.
"Let me cut you there miss. You owe a debt, you do not have a say in any of this. And yes, it's about our reputation too. You are a bait. You do not have a choice my lady. You just have to accept it and stop with all the silly whinnies already. If you look at the bright side of this, we are doing you a favor. Any girl would swirl at this offer. Do you know what it means to be Marcus' wife? Even if it's just by name" I looked at her angrily
Mia mumbled something and continued "Getting married? More like getting traded with." She sighed
"You do not get to speak to my daughter as you please Mr Sebastian. You are in my house, speak to her with respect. If you do not want to, find your way out" Mr Anderson said
"My apologies sir, I didn't mean to. I was just making some clarifications. Now Mia, put on these dresses so we could get down to the preparations " I smiled weakly.
Mia wiped her teary face and grudgingly went into the room.
I kept on pacing to and fro around the little living room. "Ugh, I do not like it here" I kept on saying to myself.
I spotted a photo frame at the corner, then I smiled
"Her parents right? I remember working with them a few times. They were such lovely people. They didn't deserve what happened to them. My condolences Mr Anderson "
In all honesty, I do not feel the slightest ounce of pity for him. I remember the duo, always getting favors, never at a fault. They irritated me.
It might as well be a family thing to get on my nerves, because Mia is giving me a tough time.
"Thank you. You really have no idea what these past few years have been like for Mia and I" Mr Anderson looked so sad.
"It must have been hard on you, do not worry, she will be safe with Marcus. No harm will come to her" I reassured.
Mr Anderson looked at me in disbelief.
"No harm will come to her? Do not try to pacify me.
You know that would not be the case. He is the most dreaded man in all of the city. So what sort of reassurance is this? I'd rather you keep mute" He moved aside to get a glass of water.
Just then, one of the dressers came out.
"Sir, none of the dresses fits. We would have to take her to the dress store. " The lady asked.
I grumbled and pinched the tip of my nose. "What were you ordered to do? I specifically ordered that you get all sizes down here. Now I have to endure this torture for a long time""
"I am so sorry sir, there was probably a mix up somewhere. We won't take much time at the dress store.
If it isn't convenient enough, we could try some other time*
I rather finish this right now, than find myself here again. I thought.
" I do not think she is doing anything around here" I looked at Mr Anderson for confirmation, and when I didn't get any, I continued. " Get her into the car. We're heading into the city "
I looked around the house one last time and turned to Mr Anderson
"Okay then. I'll leave you to it. Have a good one" I brought our my hand for a handshake, but he looked away. I giggled and walked out.
We got into the car and sped off. Mia, sitting beside me, she kept her gaze outside the window and still avoided eye contacts with me. Well, that's on her. I want to get away from all of this, the same way she wants to.
She dozed off.
Shouldn't she be happy about getting married to Marcus? That would be a huge development to her grandfather and herself. So what's with all of the fuss she keeps making. A lot of girls would do anything to be in her position right now. She really needs to chill.
I thought to myself.
The drive to the city was a bit lengthy, but when we finally got to the dress store, she was awake. The city was buzzing as usual with pedestrians and shop owners going about their day.
Mia stepped out of the car and kept on staring. I'm guessing she had not been out into the city for a long time.
The whole time I kept tabs on her movements, she only helped out at the coffee shop, babysits and back home. Such a boring triangular lifestyle.
The store she was brought to was one of the best in this part of the city. They made the prettiest of dresses and provided clothes to the elites of the city.
When balls and big events were planned, the dressers had the duty of providing the best clothes to the organizers.
The shop looked really pretty, it had clear windows that displayed most of its merchandise. Mannequins of different sizes were placed at corners. I wasn't thinking of anything, just thinking of how I would speed all of this up and be on my way.
"Come on in ma'am" One of the dressers said and Mia got herself together.
Stepping into the shop, no one really paid attention to her. Everyone had something doing. She was led to a particular room that had wedding dresses well kept on hangers. They all looked lovely. In a different situation, I'm certain she would had been happy to be there.
"Do you like any dress ma'am" The lady asked
"Any dress you pick is fine" she absentmindedly said.
Good, I thought to myself, help me speed up the whole process.
One of the ladies whispered something to a worker and they both took a couple of dresses and handed them to her.
"You can go into the other room and try all of them. Whichever you think is perfect, you bring it back" She smiled.
Tapping my foot continuously on the floor and pacing around the room, I kept on staring at my wrist watch. What is taking her so long.
The door to the dressing room opened and he was standing right there. In front of me. Hope none of these people snitched and told him I wasn't quite pleased with being here. The thought kept on going through my mind.
"Sir, I have everything
under control. You did not have to come over" I said shakily
"I didn't say you were whiling away Sebastian, can I not come to check on my wife?" Marcus grinned. I was thrown off guard. Wife?
