REVEALED BETRAYAL

With his eyes blazing with rage and his hands clutched at his sides, Damian sprinted into the darkened room. Emma watched anxiously from a few paces behind him. It was oppressively tense. His cousin Lucas was seated across from them. With a growl that almost held his rage, Damian's voice sounded low. "You betrayed us. What was the amount they paid you? With a smug smile twisting on his lips, Lucas leaned back in his chair and arched an eyebrow. "Sold out? Damian, hurry up. Do you believe I did this to get money? He spoke in a suave, almost patronizing tone. "I did this for what’s mine." Emma took a step forward, staring at Lucas. "Have you not always been envious of Damian? In his shadow all the time. But is he being betrayed here? Giving Vanessa secrets?" Lucas snorted. "Are you jealous? I'm not jealous, Emma. I'm just sick of being ignored and playing a supporting role. Everything was always handed to Damian. Everything. And all you've done, Emma, is support him and claim the credit for his efforts." Damian's anger simmered beneath the surface, causing his hands to shake. "Lucas, you are a coward. You are a traitor, nothing more." Lucas grew stern-eyed. "I might be. But I'm on the winning side this time." His voice lowered as he leaned closer. "Power was promised to me by Vanessa. She assured me of everything you will never possess. Emma stepped toward Damian and spoke in a forceful but composed tone. "Don't let him affect you, Daniel. He wishes to agitate you. Turn it against him. We still have time to change this. Despite his obvious anger, Damian hesitated and looked at Emma. She was correct. This was no time for anger. Lucas had to be outwitted. He inhaled deeply and turned to face his cousin. Lucas, you made a mistake. An enormous one. We're not finished yet. You'll be sorry you did this. Lucas grinned, but there was a momentary glint of uncertainty in his eyes. "We'll see. However, I'm done here. He rose, averting his gaze as though the altercation had no significance. But when he got to the door, the silence was broken by Damian's voice. "Lucas, you'll pay for this. And I'll be the one witnessing your fall when you do." Emma felt the burden of the situation bearing down on her chest as they walked out of the room. Vanessa was going to retaliate for Lucas' treachery, which was just the beginning. The strategy was clear: expose Lucas and defeat him. However, they now had to contend with Vanessa's unavoidable retaliation. Damian's phone buzzed in his pocket before they had even left the building. With a furrowed brow, he took it out and read the message. "What is it?" With a hint of nervousness in her voice, Emma inquired. As Damian flipped through the message, his jaw tightened. It comes from a reporter. A private letter I wrote to you was leaked. Additionally, it's already becoming viral online. Emma felt sick to her stomach. "What? No—" As she reached for Damian's phone and began to browse the news, her voice trailed off. Damian's Love Triangle Exposed: The Other Woman Revealed was the stinging headline. The paper was filled with her name, the phrases mangled and perverted. They depicted a cunning, manipulative woman who was out to destroy Damian's life. It had been a whole fiction. Emma's voice trembled in shock as she glanced up at Damian. "This is Vanessa. Everything is being turned against us by her. She is portraying me as the antagonist. Damian's expression darkened as he gripped his phone more tightly. "She is in a desperate situation. Additionally, desperation might be harmful. Emma tried to stifle the growing panic by shaking her head. "We can't accomplish nothing while we sit here. Everything we've built will be destroyed by her." Damian's eyes glowed with resolve. "We will not permit her. We can't allow her to take any more from us because we've already lost too much." Despite her racing heart, Emma made an effort to stay focused. "We need to expose her—show the world who she really is." Damian's eyes hardened as he nodded. "Yes, we will. Not yet, though. We must first eliminate Lucas. Emma couldn't get rid of the sensation that they were being watched as they stood in the corridor, the gravity of the situation beginning to set in. Her intuition told her something was wrong, so she looked about. "Damian," she said in a scarcely discernible whisper. "There's a problem. I sense it. With an unreadable expression, Damian turned to face her. "What do you mean?" Emma quickly glanced around the room, looking for any activity. "I'm not sure. I simply This bothers me. We feel as though someone is watching us. Damian drew her close to him after narrowing his eyes. "We need to get out of here, now." They hurried down the steps as fast as they could without being noticed. Emma felt her heart thumping in her chest. It felt like a countdown with each step they took. Her mind was racing with thoughts of Lucas, Vanessa, and the escalating media maelstrom. In the back of her mind, though, was another thought. She couldn't get rid of the feeling. Damian's phone rang once more as they arrived at the front door. His face suddenly altered this time. As he read the message, his knuckles turned white and his grasp on the phone tightened. "It's from Oliver," he added in a tight voice, "Emma." Emma stopped. "What did he say?" Damian's face turned white. "He claims that someone has been observing him. He believes they are aware of his location. Emma's blood froze. "What? No, this isn't possible." With a growing sense of panic, she took Damian's arm. "We must reach him. "Now." Damian's eyes became stony. "Yes, we will. But we must maintain our composure. Who is responsible for this is unknown to us. Emma's pulse accelerated with every second as her mind raced. "We have to get him out of there before they find him." Damian's jaw clenched as he gazed at her. "Yes, we will. However, we must first identify the culprit. and the reason behind their pursuit of us." In an attempt to calm herself, Emma inhaled deeply. "What if Vanessa is the one? What if Oliver is her next target? Damian's eyes became gloomy. "Then we’ll make sure she regrets it." The sound of footsteps resonated behind them. Emma turned fast, her heart leaping in her breast. A figure appeared from the shadows, a silhouette she couldn’t quite make out. Emma found it difficult to breathe for a while as the figure's eyes glinted in the low light. Was it this somebody who had been observing them? Had they caught up at last? When the figure moved forward, a well-known face emerged. Oliver. "Emma," he whispered in a voice that was almost audible. "I… I think they know where I am." Emma's throat tightened with breath. Her brother's eyes were wide with fright and his face was pallid. Oliver, what do you mean? What's happening? Oliver's tone faltered. "I'm not sure. I'm being followed, though. They're just behind me, I promise. I have to get out of here or they'll discover me." Damian took a step forward and extended his hand to Oliver. "You’re not going anywhere until we figure this out." Emma's thoughts were racing as she attempted to put everything together. Who pursued them? Oliver had received such warning from whom? What exactly did Vanessa contribute to all of this? Tension permeated the air, drawing them nearer to the brink with each passing second. Emma's heart ached when she saw the terror in Oliver's eyes. They had to avoid making any further errors. "Damian," she murmured in a voice that was almost audible, "we must identify the culprit before it's too late." Damian's demeanor was unreadable when his eyes met hers. "Yes, Emma, we will. However, we must exercise caution. It's perilous whoever is tugging the strings. And Emma's phone buzzed as soon as he finished speaking. As she read the message, her heart skipped a beat and she looked down. It came from an unidentified phone number. It's too late. I'm watching already.
