Meeting Him

ETHAN’S POV “Don’t tell me you're going there again, brother Ethan” my younger sister pouted her mouth, holding onto my hands. I have made my decision and that's what it's going to be. Why is she acting so clingy like she hasn't grown adapted to it yet? “Laura, if you aren't going to help me in packing those shoes, better let go of me before I smack your head,” I said, knowing fully she hates being smacked on her head. She let go of my hand immediately and slumped on the bed, her back lying on the bed. “Do you have a wife you're hiding there?” She asked sternly, staring into my face. What? Is Laura saying that? She knows that I hate the word, WIFE and she knows I have no intention of getting married. Marriage or anything called Love can only be destructive and sad. All I'm focused on is making my company the best and richest game company in the world. “Are you not glad you'll have all the house to yourself?” I replied to her, intentionally to get on her nerves. I noticed the sudden frown on her face immediately after I said that. But I ignored it. “How can you say such a thing!” She half yelled and abruptly sat up on the bed. “Laura, you can't stop me from going. That's the only place where I can breathe lively without having to worry about anything else”. I zipped the bag, stuffed it with my few clothes, and turned to leave the room but her voice stopped me, making me jerk back. “Then why did you work harder to be this rich only for you not to have peace? What's the essence of being the richest CEO when you refuse to get out of your past?” She fired, bitterness engulfing her voice. I can't stand hearing all this. I know she won't stop any moment from now if she notices her words made me hooked. “Till a week, baby sis” I mumbled and dragged the bag alongside me as I stormed out of the house. My secretary ran towards me to take the bag but I resisted. “Look after her while I'm away,” I said to him. “Boss, isn't it time you let go of those memories? This could turn out to be a threat to your safety. You're becoming more famous than before” he said. I understood all their concerns but I can't just seem to live in peace. I need a space out of being Ethan Woods, out of being the young richest CEO. “It's okay” I patted his shoulder and headed out. He stopped me, abruptly holding my bag. “At least, let me drop you off” “There's no need for that, Xavier!” I muttered, jerking the bag away from him. ********* VANESSA’S POV It has been two days since I stormed out of the house. I've been staying with Caroline who insisted I travel out rather than stay in a run-down building. Only if she'd understand me and choose to do as I said. I wondered why Dad had not come looking for me, he knew the only place I could be was none other than Caroline's place. “Vanessa, my plug got a place just exactly as you wanted, he wants us to come to check it out” Caroline announced in the dining room. “That's so fast! How about we go today?” I exclaimed, excitedly. “You're keen on doing this? How will you cope living in that rental and run-down area? You don't even know how to cook. How will you feed yourself? Eating that convenience store unhealthy foods?” she glowered frustratedly. “Yes, I'm doing this. You think my dad can't find me anywhere else! I'm choosing that place because he won't ever think of tracing me to a run-down apartment”. She let out a deep breath, dropping her fork on the plate. “Okay then! Let's go!” She yelled, standing up from the table. ***** We got to her plug place and he took us to the apartment he had found. Honestly, I can't think of coping in this smelly area, with a lot of run-down buildings that need reconstruction. Come to think of what Caroline had said, how will I live in this type of state? We got to the building he said to be much better than all we've been seeing. I noticed the tenants prying eyes on us the moment we arrived, they all came out of their room, staring at us like we were some sort of celebrities. “I heard a female is renting one of the rooftop rooms” I heard a man say amidst them. “Could it be those two?” An old aged voice replied to the man. We headed up the stairs, following behind the man. “I was told you got a neighbor in the rooftop room,” he said, mounting up the stairs. Caroline and I stood behind him steps away as we pants, mounting the almost crushed stairs. “Arghh!” We heaved out as we got to the rooftop. Wow! This is much better than I had imagined. It's neatly well-painted, with flowers placed all around the pavement. The neat environment shows the said next-door neighbor must be a very neat and sensitive person. “The new neighbor must have done a great job to make it look this nice” the man murmured, walking towards a room with a feeble door on it. I noticed the light in the other room as we walked past it. “The person must be in” I mumbled to Caroline, who simply shook her head slightly, from fatigue. “Here is your room. I had it cleared out already” he said, facing us with a wide smile. “Okay, but I'd need a change of the door. A new painting to my taste, and a completely new set of housewares. I want everything ready by tomorrow” I said to the guy, who stared at us in shock. The look on his face shows he must have thought of us like some poor girls running away from debtors. “That would cost a lot more than you think,” he said. “Drop your account and it'll be transferred” I replied, taking a look around at the place. “Not that bad,” Caroline said, hiding the obvious mock smile on her face. Damn her! We were about to head down when the other room door burst open, and a young man came out in black shorts and a wrinkled faded top. I turned my head around to take a better look at the said neighbor and a loud gasp ran out of my mouth. Standing right in front of me with a bucket in his left hand, staring at us, from the man to Caroline, and then his eyes fell on me. How can a man be this good-looking? I yelled in my mind. Are there still men that exist with this type of handsome face and features? I ran my eyes from his face to his pinkish curled lips down to his bare leg showing from the shorts he wore. Damn! He has nice milky white skin. He's about 6 feet tall, with a broad muscled shoulder. His hair was neatly curled in style. He would have been perfect if not for his poor dressing which shows he is a very poor young man. But are poor men always this handsome? Suddenly his voice laced with anger snapped me out of my wide imagination. “Are you done stripping me naked!?”.
