Chapter 6

First up on the agenda was a dance off. Since there wasn't anyone to be a proper judge, we decided that one person would record the other and decide who was better based on the footage. After I put on a dubstep song to dance to, we played rock-paper-scissors to decide who went first. In the end, I had to do just that, mainly because I suck at games like this. So as I got ready to dance, Ali got out her smartphone. I know this might sound silly, but I have absolutely no rhythm whatsoever. So when I was moving and shaking my body, you probably couldn't tell what the hell I was doing. When my turn concluded, I was glad to stop what shouldn't qualify as dancing. I took out my own phone to record Ali and let me tell you, she dances a hell of a lot better than I ever could. Maybe that's because she spends a lot of her free time watching Britney Spears videos. After we watched both routines, we instantly decided that Ali was the winner. We then went out to the kitchen to eat the pasta I made. We didn't say much to each other. I was the first to break the silence. "Why do you think your friends hate me?" I queried. "Well," said Ali, "maybe it's because of what you do. But I told them you were a nice caring guy regardless of that." "Right. Somehow, a lot of people just don't see that when they look at me." "Well, maybe when they're done being ignorant, they probably will." Ali's comment made me feel very good inside. "Thanks, Ali," I told her. "Not a problem, Harv," she replied. After dinner came karaoke. Ali might be better than me at dancing, but we were equals when it came to singing like gods. It's true; Ali and I are excellent singers. I popped in a karaoke disc my parents had lying around and together, we sang to a bunch of songs. Let me tell you; I never felt so great about myself in my whole f*****g life. Little did I realize, it was all about to crumble tomorrow.
