Chapter 13

176 Words
Without my parents around, my two-week suspension turned out to be paradise. This meant I can watch TV and play video games whenever I wanted. However, I realized how much of an issue money is, so I also did housework for a number of people in my neighborhood. Depending on how long I worked, I would make up to twenty to thirty bucks a day. "But wait," you're saying. "I thought you said something about the worst weeks of your life." It's not like I got arrested or anything, because I didn't. What happened at the end of these weeks is much worse than you can ever imagine. Sure, there were some people who were calling to see if Mom and/or Dad were okay, but I lied and said they were on vacation. Funny thing is, they believed me and never called again for quite some time. In short, being out of school was a great experience. I knew, though, that the next time I wanted to do it again, I'd have to fake an illness.
