After the contract was signed, they were both toured in a different mansion. It was a huge mansion but not bigger than the one Darius used to live.
It was enough for two people. No, it was more than.
Caelia looked around the place. Before entering, they were met with a huge black gate. It was 3 times taller than Caelia. The sight overwhelmed her as it was her first time seeing one. She was astonished.
As the servants opened the gate, a creaking sound was made. It was to be expected with a gate as massive as that. They were then met with the view inside.
The place has a garden with flowers at each side. But weirdly, Caelia felt strange.
The flowers that filled the garden are all jasmine. They were as white and pure as them, but the flowers did not suit the gloomy atmosphere of the mansion.
Behind the bushes is a pond, with water lily scattered all around. In front of the mansion is a fountain with clear water gushing out if it.
Her eyes fell on the water, but she couldn't clearly make out her face. The rough water made it impossible to do.
The servant, who was guiding them, led them inside after they had seen the exterior. The door, as expected, stood not taller than the gate, but not the usual size of doors.
The servant opened it with a creak. Caelia stood frozen on her place. The yard, although not as lively as their home, has some life in it. But inside? It was desolate.
With how huge the mansion is, it is easier to tell how empty the place looked.
The living room, which was supposed to have a couch, a coffee table, fire place, and a television which reflected the size of the mansion, had nothing but a single sofa that stood there all alone.
As the servant led them to the kitchen, she was once again frozen in shock. There were no other furniture and kitchen utensils aside from a multi-door fridge and a table with two chairs.
There was a sink, but the counter is completely empty.
'Was this house really built for dwelling?' she wondered, not sure if she should ask the servant or Darius, who seems unbothered by the emptiness of the place.
She swallowed her words. Maybe they never placed anything yet because the mated couple may not like it. With that thought, she followed the servant without saying a word.
The servant led them to the bathroom, which only had the necessary furniture like the shower, the toilet, and the sink. Then at the back yard, which was no different from the sight in front.
After they finished on the first floor, they then moved forward to the second one. It was filled with rooms up until the very end of the corridor.
The place has 5 rooms, 2 of which have a king bed and the other 3 has a single one. She assumed that the small rooms must be the guest room, but what confused her is the two huge rooms.
'Who is going to use the other roon?' she thought. But this question was soon answered when the servant led Darius to his room, and Caelia to hers.
She looked at the servant with bewilderment. Then looked at Darius who was busy checking his room without a care of the world.
"Aren't we suppose to stay in one room?"
She couldn't hold back any longer. She could bear the emptiness of the place, but this just doesn't make sense.
How can two mated couple stay in two separate rooms? Weren't they told to stay together all the time?
That question was soon answered by the servant who was not very courteous but not very rude either.
"The rule do not state that two mated couple are to stay in one room. This is also in accordance to the master's order."
'Master?' she muttered. Looking back and forth between the servant and Darius who was done checking his room and closed his door.
She was momentarily dazed. Who ordered what?
As she stood frozen, the servant, sensing that she no longer has questions, bowed his head and left the room.
Caelia, left alone, still stood on her place. Questions filled her head as if she could not process what the servant had said.
'Was Darius the 'master' he was referring to? Is that why he never gave me a final glance? But he looked okay earlier. He even smiled at me. Maybe the servant is just trying to draw a line between us. Maybe his family is actually not happy with me. Is that why they never placed any effort in designing the house?'
She remained standing. As if her questions will reach a conclusion if she stay still. But when she came back to her senses, the servant was no longer there. The door that she has been staring at is completely shut.
There was no single soul in sight. No one but her.
She scanned her room. That was when she realized that beside the lifeless yard, the desolate mansion, and the lonely feeling the place gave off, her room was the only place with life in it.
The room was painted white, but not so bright and blinding. It was the kind of white that is similar to her eyes, the moon.
Their family had always been known for their eyes that resembled the moon. That must also be the reason why even their surname is "Moon". It was the kind of eyes that captured Alphas and Lunas alike. And she has always loved that very part of her. The very thing that shows she is a "Moon".
Aside from the overall atmosphere of the room, it also has everything one would need. A bathroom located at the very end. With a refrigerator filled with food enough to last for a month. The bed, which is located at the far edge, has the same glow of that of the paint.
The room is divided between her bedroom and a desk for personal function, it also has a walk-in closet hidden behind a book shelf. If not for the instruction written on the wall, she probably wouldn't know. The other side of the room is for her daily necessity, with a television for entertainment as well.
The room looked more like a house. It had everything the first floor don't.
She couldn't understand.
'Does Darius's room also have a similar design? If so, did he do this on purpose so that we won't need to see each other? Is that why the living room is empty? Because everything we need is already right here?'
Her mind drifted from one thought to another. She couldn't help it.
'Was it all a lie? His smile and everything?'
She sat on the bed. The soft feeling never eased her aching heart. It was as if everything that happened earlier was all a dream. A dream she wished not to wake up from.
Despite the many reason for her to believe that it was all an act, Caelia wanted to understand him better and not jump to conclusions.
She thought that maybe he was just tired from a long day, just like Caelia who was already feeling sleepy earlier.
She inhaled a great amount of oxygen and reassured herself.
"Tomorrow. I'll see to it tomorrow."
With great determination, she laid on her bed and started counting sheep. She prayed for tomorrow to be a great day.
