Amaris POV
As weird as that Dacre guy appearing behind me at 4am was, I still chuckled when I heard him mutter to himself, "Nice going Dacre. Real smooth there pal". I hesitated there at the door, half hoping he'd knock on the door. He didn't. I couldn't get over how sad I was when I heard the soft padding of his bare feet against the stone trail down the hall away from me. I wanted to throw the door open and run after him.
Common sense, however, did prevail. I couldn't act like some love-sick pup just because a gorgeous man paid me some attention. If the past has taught me anything, it's that men never want anything good from me. Unless they are Kevin, but he was the exception to the rule. He only ever wanted me to be happy.
Once I got myself situated in the old apartments, which was an odd experience in itself, I got to work getting myself presentable as a late Alpha's daughter. I might as well look like the part I had to play. It had been about 5 years since I'd been here but going back to my old room proved less painful than I thought it would. I searched through all my old things, looking for some appropriate clothing for the day ahead. I would be expected to be in designer clothes, expensive jewellery and look my absolute best.
Lucky for me; by sixteen I had pretty much filled out as much as I was going to and I actually was skinner than back then, so when I tried on some of my old clothes I wasn't surprised to find they fit very nicely and much better than they used to because I had more defined curves now. I looked sadly in the mirror; I should feel good about myself but instead I felt terrified at how Sylas and, Chase and the others would look at me.
I settled on a little classic pinafore dress in a nice deep green colour with a lace trim cream coloured blouse and paired it with some basic nude stockings and some matching green suede Chanel Mary Jane's.
