Entrees and enemies part 2
As electricity racked my body, everything exploded into a bright hot white light and then dissolved into what I can only describe as a dream, a memory maybe? But it didn't feel like it was my own. I was almost floating above the two women talking, like a silent observer.
"Vina, please listen to me!" Deòiridh grabbed her sister by the hands as she pleaded with her. Her face was red and glistening with tears as she begged in earnest for her sister to see reason.
"Dee, I find your concern very sweet" Vevina tried to comfort her sister as she rubbed her thumbs soothingly back and forth on the backs of her hands to try and calm her. She always got herself in a state when her visions weren't positive. Vevina truly believed her sister's visions to be gifts from the goddess Selune herself, but unlike her sister, she did not fret when they were not good ones. Vevina believed that if it was Selunes' will, then one must accept them and move on. Denial only prolongs suffering.
Deòiridh relaxed her shoulders as her sister comforted her. She hated it when she did this because it always worked. At only 14 she was very troubled. Ever since she got her wolf last year, the visions had started. She couldn't see the purpose of them if she wasn't meant to do something about them. It was like getting spoilers for your favourite movie, it was pointless and ruined the experience. Her sister always told her that visions of the future were meant to prepare us for what is to come so we can accept fate with calm and dignity when the time comes. Deòiridh leaned more towards the theory that knowledge is power. She felt that if she knew something was going to take place, then she could try to prevent it from happening in the first place.
"Dee, if I die having this little pup, then it must mean she is special. There is no sacrifice more sacred than a mother's sacrifice for her children." Vevina brought her sisters hands closer to her and closed the distance between them with only their hands in front of them. She bowed her head and placed her forehead to her sisters.
"A babe born on a blood moon is said to be the most powerful. My child could be destined for great things. I do not weep, I rejoice. Even if I am not here dear sister; you will be. You can guide them. Promise me you'll do that!" Vevina squeezed her sisters hands lightly to convey the importance of her request. Deòiridh paused for a moment to absorb the gravity of the situation. Finally she let go of her sisters hands and wrapped her arms around her, burying her head in her long flowing blonde locks.
"Your daughter will be more precious to me than my own life; I swear it." Vevina gasped. Her sister hadn't revealed that she would have a daughter. Her heart soared with joy.
"Amaris" they both whispered.
