Part 3
In a panic to make myself as submissive as possible, I dropped my croissant and jumped off the counter, then bowed my head and kept my arms by my side while I awaited the oncoming tirade I was to receive. As Sylas hurtled towards me with fire in his eyes, Kevin span on the spot, knife in one hand, a spatula in the other and side-stepped to block Sylas's path.
"SYLAS!" Kevin yelled in warning. Although it was not an order or a question, just the way he had said his name made Sylas slow to a stop less than two feet from us. He eyed the knife Kevin had carefully.

"What did you say to Prince Dacre, and you tell me the truth or so help me goddess, you will regret it." He growled at me in a low, dangerous tone.
"I swear, I didn't say anything, he... He followed me ... And I ... I ..." I started to cry in pure fear and desperation for the consequences I was about to face.
Before I could imagine any further consequences came true. He squeezed his hand around my throat and everything went spotty and black...
