“You’re not going out there alone.”
I said it before I even realized I had moved from the window, my voice low but tight, and Bailey did not flinch, she just paused with her hand on the door like she already expected me to be there in her way.
“I am going,” she replied calmly, not looking back at me, “alone or not, that part is already decided.”
“That is not a decision you get to make by yourself anymore,” I said, stepping closer, feeling the weight in my chest tighten like something was pulling me forward whether I agreed or not.
