“This. Is. A. Catastrophy!!” I shouted against the harsh cold wind whipping our clothes and hair in every direction as we are greeted by the sight of the ocean as far as the eye could see realizing that we are now standing on a cliff which is high especially for an acrophobic person.
“This is exciting.” he declared smiling from ear to ear as I scowled at him feeling myself beginning to tremble part from the wind but mostly due to the height of the cliff.
“Stop now, Sir or we’ll be forced to force you.” One of the men in white threatened but the man beside me just laughed mockingly at them.
“We’ll jump off in the count of three.” He whispered keeping his eyes on the men.
“Sh*t are you nuts?! Jumping off this cliff that’s approximately twenty, maybe thirty or more feet high!!” I exclaimed in horror part of me knows that I’m exaggerating but I can’t help it as I faced my greatest fear. “Do you think we could survive this fall?!” I added hysterical. My stomach clenching even just imagining jumping off this height.
“Don’t worry, I called some back up.” he said reassuring me as he ran his thumb on my knuckles. “Will you thrust me on this?” he asked now peering into my eyes—bright brown meeting gray ones.
“Yes and no.” he eyed me confused. “Yes, I do trust you and no because I don’t trust your crazy idea.” I added and it seems like it made him more confused. Okay, I admitted I’m also confused. Apprehension dawned on me as I look at the men in white’s determined faces a little bit thankful seeing no weapons in sight but then the bottom line is that we are cornered leaving us no other option for escape. So, we’ve got to do what we’ve got to do.
I grip his hand firmly and locked my gaze at his. “I trust you and I trust you more to not die with me.”
He chuckled. “Okay, I won’t die and I won’t let you die either. Neither of us will, alright?” he squeezed my hand back and caressed my cheeks warming my numb skin. I momentarily closed my eyes savoring his warm touch. We stepped closer to the edge of the cliff and I found myself squeezing my eyes closed willing my legs to not caved on me as I anticipated our fall.
“Milady, please don’t go near there. Your father is worried, he sent a message that you need to go home now or—” I snapped my eyes open immediately recognizing the voice. I looked back and holy macaroni! My men in black are here. How great this day can get?! Wait, why are they all here?! Have they joined forces with those men in white? Geez!
“HAHA! Or what? I’ll be grounded?” I half laughed and scoffed flashes of images flashed in my mind as my father keeps controlling every decision in MY life. “Who cares! And send this message to him, I’ll go home if HE CAN MAKE ME!! Ciao.” And without hesitation, I tugged Mr. Stranger’s hand and we jump off the death-defying cliff.
I closed my eyes shut feeling horrid as mixture of fear, dizziness and nausea settled in my stomach as we jumped off the cliff bracing for the impact of the water below. I took a deep breath and held it but then gasp snapping my eyes open as I felt my feet landed on a soft bouncy thing and landed face first on it. We are greeted by a—soft mattress? What the heck! It definitely is a mattress making the impact of our fall a little less painful as we more like plop onto it. Have the water turned into a mattress?! I thought internally knowing all too well that it’s impossible.
I was about to ask Mr. Stranger what’s happening but my stomach twisted into knots and I hurled, shuddering from the fall and partially getting seasick as I had comprehended that we we’re caught by a large boat—specifically, a speed boat—with a large thick mattress on it. Ugh! I’m not really fond of riding boats or any water transportation at all, I get seasick fairly easily.
“You okay?” Mr. Stranger patted my back worry laced on his face as he holds my hair back away from my face. ‘Do I look okay to you?’ I really like to shout that to him but I heave out deeply, throwing up some more saliva as the boat began to move sending my hair yet again at every direction. Sh*t! I stopped vomiting and felt my vision spins around wildly. “F*CK!” was the last word I heard from him as I passed out.
