Mary did want to do something for the workers. It had been on her mind ever since she had returned from the Higgins family's humble home. After dinner, Mary was lost in thought as she organized her manuscript. She had finished the first draft of the second serial about the circus, but it was just a framework, and there were still a lot of details that needed to be changed. It would take time to refine the article and re-transcribe it. Luckily, Mary's serials were all short stories, but if they were long novels with hundreds of thousands of words, she would have to waste a lot of paper and ink in this mode of creation.
