Kim My surroundings were spinning. I couldn't process it. I stared into Theo's eyes, searching for an explanation. It wasn't fair that he was ending our marriage over something like this. "It's unfair," I defended myself. "You're discarding me because I've lost the pregnancy. You're hurting me." "You hurt me when you didn't tell me anything about what was happening and disappeared for a week. I was the baby's father, Kim," he retorted. "I was going to tell you!" "You can't keep a secret like that! I loved that baby, and you've lost it," he blamed me. How could he blame me? I never wanted this to happen. "Are you blaming me?" He threw the alcohol bottle against the wall. I got scared again and took a few steps away from Theo. "Stop doing that!" "I blame you for not telling me the truth! They'll kill me because of your lie! They think I was complicit! Do you understand that? If I don't have a child, I'll die. And I want to be a father because it's been a dream of mine since I was little. But I no longer dream with you." "You can't marry her." "I can, and I will. I'm organizing everything for the wedding." "Who are you going to marry? You can't replace me! We love each other!" "I'm marrying Anastasia." Theo was stomping on my heart. The pieces were beneath his shoes, and there was no way to recover them. I can't believe Anastasia is part of our story. Theo wanted to hurt me, and he succeeded. "Sign the papers," he left a pen on the table. "I'm not going to sign," I refused. I wasn't going to give up on our love. "Do it," he ordered. "No!" "Do it, or I'll make you!" I felt humiliated. Hearing Theo yell at me shook my soul. I wanted to fall to the floor and cry for hours. I didn't think about what I was doing. I furiously grabbed the divorce papers and signed them. Theo looked at me, confused. I think he expected me to beg him on my knees, but I wasn't going to do that. I loved him and hoped he would reconsider his decision to divorce. I took the papers, walked over to him, and shoved them roughly against his chest. Theo took them, looking at me defiantly. "Happy? I hope you're happy with Anastasia and don't die because of me," I said sarcastically. I tried to go upstairs, but he stopped me. "Where do you think you're going?" "Excuse me?" I narrowed my eyes. I wanted to hurt him as much as he was hurting me. But deep down, I wanted to sit and cry in the corner of my room. "I'm in my house. You can leave whenever you want." "Leave? No. You're the one who will leave." My lips parted. "Are you planning to kick me out?" I responded indignantly. "After everything you've said to me, you kick me out?" "That was what we agreed on in the divorce. It's in the papers you signed and should have read first," Theo shook the papers in the air. Theo kicked me out of the house? Did I sign papers agreeing to leave my home? Am I left without a husband and my home? Words failed to come out of my mouth. I thought it was a joke, but Theo hadn't joked since I arrived. I realized it was true. I had ceded my home to Theo. "Where do you expect me to go? I have no other place. What else will you take from me? My money?" "It's not your money. It's my money. You're no longer my wife, so nothing I have belongs to you. Go with your sister." No money, no husband, no home. And no baby. "You've taken everything from me," tears fell. But he didn't care at all. "You deserve it." The doorbell rang. Theo never opened the door because the maids did. However, he walked to the door and opened it. I noticed a smile on his face as he turned to look at me. A blonde woman wearing sunglasses, a tight dress, and high heels entered the house. I noticed the suitcase she brought with her. It was Anastasia. And I knew what the suitcase in her hand meant. She was going to move into my house. "You brought her here!" I screamed. Anastasia elegantly removed her sunglasses. Her arm wrapped around Theo's, and she didn't care about my scream. I hadn't seen her in a long time and thought I would never see her again. Her eyes met mine, and she smiled happily. She was so beautiful. I understand why Theo wanted to be with her, but he loved me. I refused to believe he had stopped loving me. "You're not thinking clearly, Theo. Please, we can fix this," I pleaded. I knew I shouldn't beg. A minute ago, I pretended disinterest to hurt Theo. But seeing her in my house changed everything. Theo had made a decision. His spite had crossed a line. "Don't listen to her, Theo," she clung to him. "Stay out of this!" I yelled at Anastasia. Theo placed his hand on Anastasia's belly and caressed it. "Anastasia and I have begun the fertilization process to have a child." I held back the tears that wanted to escape my eyes. I didn't want to humiliate myself in front of them and give them the satisfaction of seeing me suffer. Theo kissed Anastasia's lips, and I understood that my marriage had died forever. I knew I made a mistake by delaying the truth, but Theo had crossed a line. "You didn't care about throwing away years of marriage for Anastasia. Did you?" I descended the few steps I had managed to climb. "I'm going to ask you kindly to leave my house, Kim," Anastasia interjected. It seemed she was now the new owner of the house. I wanted to fight for what belonged to me, but someone else had won.
