Giulia’s POV

As usual of my weekdays in school, staying in our school backyard after lunch with clouds up above and breeze blowing my hair. Drinking some mango shake as an after-lunch dessert. Just a perfect time to relax.

I’m glad I’d come this far; to be a high school student.

You’ll really encounter lots of challenges when you reach high school. Homeworks, projects, and other additional subjects are flooding. But still, the thing about high school is you couldn’t get away with those popular kids and bullies. I tell you, there are tons of bullies here in my school.

They usually bully those nerds and low-class students like me. I’m not nerdy, just low-class. It’s different.

Well truth to be told, some even told me I’m lucky enough because no single bully bothered me. Hmm, I guess so?

But at the same time, no one talks to me except my two best friends Reya and Jude. They always leave us out of place but we enjoy being alone together anyway. Just study and do some school stuffs. No parties and night outs just like what other high schoolers do. Just us.

We’re very loquacious. But we only talk a lot when were together. The three of us have been best of friends since first grade. We study at the same school from the very start and even go to school together. Our houses were just blocks away.

Reya was sitting beside me right now while Jude is nowhere to be found. She is listening to music through her headphones. The music is blaring in her ears that I could even hear it from here.

She’s drowning herself again.

She’s been very suspicious these past few weeks. She’s been quite and I’m getting curious why. And since she always say “nothing”, it’s making me even more curious.

“Reya,” I gently held her shoulder to enlighten up her mood. “Are you okay? You’ve been so quiet lately.” I showed her a worried smile and she smiled back with her head down.

“I’m fine, Jul.” She faced me and took her headphones off. “What makes you think I’m not?” She playfully asked with a brow raised.

I smirked, “Come on, It’s obvious that you’re not okay. Your ugly face could show it.” I sarcastically said just to add some good vides in the air.

But then she looked away,

“You don’t need to know it.”

“I’m your best friend Reya. We promised to be there for each other.” I assured her while wearing a worried smile.

She just continued to look away and said, “I could handle it on my own.”

“Are you heartbroken? Has Jim got himself a girlfriend?” I smirked playfully, trying to brighten up her mood. She liked Jim for years and we’ve been talking about him. I guess he’s involved of her change of mood.

Reya faced me with a surprised face. “WHAT? Hell no.” She furrowed. “I don’t even like him.”

This girl needs more practice in lying.

“You’ve been talking about him almost everyday and now you’ll tell me that you don’t like him? Good joke.” I said with a sarcastic face.

“No, What I mean, Yes.. I like him.” Ohhh, so here is it. “What I mean is, this isn’t about him. It’s just..” She looked down again.

“Just what?” I queried. “Do you really have to keep it from me Reya?” I interjected her and patted her shoulder, “You can trust me, you know that.” Now, seriousness is in the air again.

Reya was about to say something but we were stopped by our tracks when the guy we hated for months came; Leo Weild.

He is with his peers. Girls were clinging on him while some guys were following him as if he has his own personal bodyguards.

He’s the most arrogant and self centered guy we’ve known. Hanging out with tons of girls. Top of all bullies in school but bottom in school ranking. He is popular, rich, and cool. Teachers even like him because of his so called handsome face. Urrrgh, I can’t even think about it. And if you’ll ask us why we hated him so much, that’s because he did something really worst in the past.

“Disgusting as ever.” I mumbled while sending glares at him. His exposing himself with girls clinging on him here in school? Urgh, I think I should just mind my own business.

“Indeed.” Reya chuckled menacingly while clenching a fist. She just glared at him for the whole two minutes so I cut the ice because it’s making me worried and uncomfortable.

“Something wrong?” I asked and gave her shoulder a pat.

“Nothing’s wrong.” She palely said. Still not looking at me and continued to give Leo an evil glare. It made me think that maybe, this guy has something to do with Reya’s sudden change of attitude.

I hope my thoughts aren’t real.

“Okay, so now..” I innocently smiled while diverting Leo’s subject away. I don’t want to talk about him anymore. “now, can you tell me what’s wrong?”

Reya just smiled at me. “Maybe I’ll just tell you soon if I’m ready enough to say it..” Then she stood up, “I’ll just go to the restroom, I’ll be back right away.” Reya then walked away. She left me even without letting me say a word.

I was looking at her heading towards the restroom until she’s out of sight. I was left there curious about everything she said.

Is it really that serious because she couldn’t even tell me? Does it really have to be a secret? It made me even more curious.

Without knowing, Jude was grinning beside me this whole time. I then jolted in surprise.

“How long have you been there? You scared me to death.” I shrieked with fear as he chuckled with obvious amusement.

Jude smirked confidently that I want to give his face a punch. “I’m full of surprises.” I then faced him.

Oh God that handsome face.

As what I said earlier, Jude was also my best friend since the first grade. He’s kind, gentle, smart and humble. Everything about him is just so perfect. I liked most of all things about him. For me, he defines the word gentleman that’s why..

I like him a lot.

I never told him about how I felt al throughout the years of friendship. I’m just scared that it will ruin our closeness. I guess I’ll just keep it inside for the sake of our friendship. The right time will come anyway.

“Where have you been? We’ve been looking for you.” I cackled with exaggeration.

“I’m actually looking for you Jul.” He replied with a smile on his face. I couldn’t help it but smile in return. I tried to hold my smile back but I couldn’t. IT IS REALLY OUT. “Well I was looking for you because..”

“Because?” I cut him off with butterflies violently swarming in my belly. I’m really going crazy right now.

“because you have my notes in Algebra. Can I have it back? I really need it.” He said bluntly. Yeah, great. He was just looking for me because of some stupid note.

“Oh, right. Yeah, give me a sec.” I fake a laugh as I look for his notes inside my backpack.

I thought you were looking for me because you missed me! I mumbled inside my head.

Now that was absolutely lame. (face palm)

“Here you go. Thanks anyway.” I handed him his notes after I found it.

“Thanks kitty.” He thanked me with a warm smile on his face. Wait, what did he just said?

“Kitty?” I tittered, thinking that I might look like a cat with long whiskers.

“Yeah, because your cute.” He said with a smile on his face. He made me blush again. He never failed to give me shivers I never thought I’ll have.

I looked away trying to hide my red face, “Good joke.” Was my only reply. Hiding the obvious that I always left out of words every time we’ll have a conversation together.

“Uhmmm, Jul?” Jude moved closer while I’m still looking away. I can feel that he is looking at me with a serious face. Dear God! I Wish the bench could extend by itself because he could clearly see how blush I am right now. I really need to distance myself. “Can I ask you out?”

WAIT WHAT? DID I HEARD IT RIGHT? He isn’t talking about a date is he?

I just faced him trying to act calm, “Where?” I asked as calm as possible.

“Uhmm, just in some place here in school. Do you know any place here that is quiet? I-I wanna te-tell you something.” Wait did Jude just stutter?

“Maybe at the back of our school canteen is good.” I guessed, feeling that my heart will explode any minute now.

WHAT WILL THIS GUY TELL ME

“Oh, yeah, that would be fine. I’ll expect you there tomorrow, okay? I really need to tell you something.” Jude said with a hesitant smile.

I looked at him and nodded, “Oh, okay.” He gave me a warm smile that I couldn’t resist.

He is so perfect.

“SING IT AGAIN LEO!” A girl from Leo’s group suddenly yelled and that cause everyone at the school backyard look at their direction, even me and Jude.

“That guy is getting on my nerves.” I murmured with a glare but it seems Jude heard me. Jude just smirked and look at Leo that is smiling like he owns the world.

“Fine. But this would be the last.” Leo looked at the girls. Leo was one of the school band here in. Causing bunch of girls to idolize him. And then, he started to sing.

“You’re like a dream come true…”

He just continued singing as I placed my headphones in my ears and look away from their peer.

After a while, I see students applaud. I guess he’s done singing. Students continued to cheer for the arrogant guy who is now doing a gesture to let them stop from cheering.

“Thank you!” Leo smirked cockily as the girls squealed and took pictures with him.

I just glared at him and then he suddenly faced me. He chuckled and gave me a wink in a flirty way.

What the f**k was that for?

I rolled my eyes at his conceited gesture and looked away with nose flaring.

“Hey, don’t mind that guy.” Jude calmed me down with his gentle voice and smiled at me. I looked at him and smile back.

Aww, he is really something.

“Yeah, he’s full of himself as if the world revolves around him.” I spoke, frown never leaving my face.

“How much do you hate him?” Jude asked.

“Very and I mean very much. He doesn’t even know how to say a simple sorry. Urghh never mind.” I answered as I just realized that Reya hasn’t back from the restroom yet.

Swear, I guess I waited for ages.

“Now, calm down. He doesn’t deserve you.” That line hit me. I never said anything about that. Now where did those came from?

I looked at Jude with a gratitude smile. “Thanks.”

He then stood up and got his backpack. “No problem. Now, let’s get going. Class is about to start.”

“Wait, what time tomorrow?” I asked with excitement and curiosity at the same time. I’m really wondering what he’ll tell me.

“Hmm, after class dismiss.” He replied as he walked away. But then, he stopped when he saw me still rooted sitting in the bench. “You coming?”

“No, I’ll still pass by the library to borrow some books. Just go ahead.” I smiled.

“I’ll go with you.” He walk towards me. This dude is really sweet.

“No need. You still have lots of things to do right? I’m good. Just go ahead.” I assured him.

He just smiled and nodded. “Okay. See you then.” Then walked away. I would love his company but he really needs time to finish his works.

I looked at my back before going away as I saw Leo looking at me. Wait no, he’s staring. He creeps me out.

All of a sudden, he smirked with full of confidence. I stayed frozen on the spot wondering why that creep is staring at me.

I raised a brow up rudely and looked away, heading silently to the library.

As I was walking, I could feel someone was following me. I just felt it. My instincts were screaming those at me.

“Stop following me Jude. I know you’re there.” I voiced out, smirking at how playful Jude is.

I didn’t hear any reply. Instead, I heard a chuckle. A simple chuckle from a guy behind me.

I turned my back abruptly with fear but then it was replaced by annoyance, irritation, anger, and all those stuffs when I saw his face.

“Jude Bell? The geek? You serious?” Leo smirked, standing 5 feet away with hands in his pockets. Leaning the wall.

What the?

“Shut up. You’re talking about my best friend. Just mind your own business and go away.” I sneered with pure annoyance in my tone. What is he even doing here?

He just chuckled and walked slowly towards me. He smirked cockily still his hands on his pockets. As we’re already a feet away, he stopped, “Wait, you like him?”

I blushed, “What? No! Look, just stop being ridiculous and just leave me alone Leo.” I said, with complete denial.

“Oh come on, stop being defensive. It’s written all over your face.” Leo smirked again. Can this guy at least mind his own business?

“Oh, really. A face-reader are you?” I sarcastically smile. Wanting him to get out of my sight. “Now, please stop following me. I’ll go ahead.”

“Face-reader? That’s sounds nice.” This guy is really giving me headache.

I tried to maintain my sarcastic face and I did it. “If I were you, I’ll mind my own business.” I rolled my eyes. “So again, for the Nth time. Go away.”

“But I just got here.” Quit that. I didn’t even ask you to follow me. “Worried that I might tell your geek friend that you like him?” He crossed his arms with smirk on his face. Can he just stop smirking?

“Not funny.” Without any last words, I turned my heel and began to walk away. I can’t stand another minute with that guy. But then, as I was walking away. Someone grabbed my hand. And guess what, it’s him.

“You’re not going anywhere.” Leo said and I faced him with rage. What does this guy wants?

“What do you want?” I asked with an annoyed and irritated face. “And please let go of me!” I demanded and he obediently let go of my hand. His grip was so firm that I thought I’d loose my arm today.

“I’ll tell you if you shut your mouth.” He commanded with a serious face. I glared at him furiously. And then he stated something that I would never expect to hear from him. “I want you to be my girlfriend .”

What the hell

This is crazy. My mind is overloaded with many things and then this would add up? Can he even hear himself. Is he even serious?

Anyone but this guy? No freaking way! What’s the matter with him? Is he sleep walking? What kind of spirit has possessed him today?

This guy is really giving me a massive headache.

“WHAT???!” I can’t help but shout. Is he awake? This is insane. Him? My boyfriend? I don’t even have plans of having one yet.

“Yes, you heard it right. You, Giulia, Jul, or I don’t know what to call you is going to be my instrument to br…”

“Of course I would say, NO freaking way! I don’t want to be your girlfriend. You? Urrgh. What is even wrong with you?” I raised my voice with pure disbelief. Where did he get the guts to ask me that?

“Relax, just calm down.” Leo held my shoulders to calm my nerves. “Okay, I’m sorry if it’s really flabbergasting but I need you.” He said in a calm way that somehow calm me down a bit.

“W-what the hell do you mean?” I stuttered with confusion.

“Let me explain first..” Leo said and I zipped my mouth to hear whatever he’ll say. His face really looks serious. “Few months ago, I broke up with my girlfriend. It’s been the saddest part of my life yet and I’ve decided to take a stand. I need you to make her know how much I want her back by making you my…”

“What? No! I don’t want to get involve with this and that is final!” I shouted and run as fast as I could towards my classroom.

I was running, not looking back. As I heard his faint voice from afar saying;

“I will see you tomorrow after dismissal Jul! I’ll make sure you’ll be there!” Then his out of sight.

Terrified, scared and anxious. I walked towards my classroom and took my seat with shivers all over my body.

I stayed quite, still thinking about what happened. This is the craziest thing that happened in my life.

Why me? Why do I have to be a toy here? No, I won’t and I will never be involve with this problem. Why can’t he just show her himself?

Can my days get any worse?
