Lyra's POV
"Lock her up."
Kael's voice echoed in the hall and the guards moved fast, they grabbed Serena's arms but she did not fight, she did not struggle, she just smiled.
That same smile, like she was enjoying this, like this was all part of her plan.
As they dragged her away, her eyes found mine and she held my gaze.
"You are already too late," she said gently and my chest tightened.
"What do you mean?" I asked but she was already moving and then the guards pulled her out of the hall.
The door shut behind them and silence fell again and it was heavy.
